Buoy and Droplet Superstring Lights

Whoa. It’s been a while since we’ve taken a look at Patrick Townsend’s lighting portfolio, and what a smacker of a surprise to see the current offerings. The Buoy Large Pendant (above) sure is something special, with its handblown glass bubble and surrounding bursts of light, and the Droplet Bronze (below) is simply spectacular. If the price points on those are too high for you, please don’t overlook the original Orbit 35″ ($900) fixture, or the newer Stellar56 (shown below).

Joggy Security Cam

Note: We’ve received an email from a reader that pointed out several concerns regarding this Indiegogo project. We suggest you read through the comments on the project page and check out the owners/manufacturers at the very least before contributing.

This security camera is a small, wearable camera equipped with motion sensor & tracker. While some of the finer details still seem to be in development, there are enough uses that make backing the project very tempting. Mount it outside your front door to be alerted to movement or sound or mount it inside the home to keep an eye on the kids. Put it in your luggage to track your bags or maybe clip it on your shirt to record possible pictures on a hike. You can even use it to park your car when it’s in the parking mode. Lots of options, aren’t there? Take a look at the video below, or go to Joggy’s Indiegogo page for more info.

Concrete Vessel by wrk-shp

A small vessel for plants or pens could be a nice addition to your workspace, especially as you can switch between desktop or wall display depending on the accessory pairing. Double up the semi-circular planter by wrk-shp (husband-and-wife team Airi Isoda and Ryan Upton) and add the stand for a circular tabletop statement, or hang one vessel by a polyester cord semi-circle style against a wall. If you plan on using the vessel as a planter, please note that indoor succulents would do especially well, as the vessel has no drain hole.

Enevu CUBE Light

Why do you need a small LED light? Beats me, but judging by the product shots of the Enevu CUBE Light, I’m sure you’ll be able to find some uses. It’s splash-proof, so you can take it out by the pool or add it to your camping gear. There’s a color changing mode for those ‘mood’ settings you may or may not be fond of, as well as a hanging hook should you need it.

Ruban Bottle Opener

This might win the award for most minimal bottle opener, if such a thing existed. The Ruban is made from bended stainless steel, blasted on the lower portion and polished on the upper for a nice contrast. Maybe it’s the most indestructible opener as well…at least when it comes to normal household usage- I’m sure if you wanted to destroy it, you could.

Smoked Oak Magazine Holder

Organize that stack of magazines (or papers) with this oak holder from Ferm Living. The angled top edge reminds one of the traditional roof silhouette, or maybe it just gives off a geometric vibe that’s sure to feel at home in any office or living area. Veneered smoked oak adds a little visual warmth with its natural wood grain.

Dorian Table Mirror

There seems to be more mirrors made of polished stainless steel nowadays, and that’s a very good trend in the design world, as it allows for more variation in form and color. Just look at the angled sides of the Dorian Table Mirror by Martin Hirth for Pulpo. They allow the mirror to stand alone on a tabletop, and, when you’re not gazing lovingly at your face, you can admire the mirror as a sort of metal sculpture. A shelf protrudes outward at the base, giving you a parking spot for your small sundries. Plus, there are three excellent color options: gold, silver, or blue.

JOY N. 3 Tray Enamel Paint

A faceted blue tray is exactly the sort of landing spot you need for your prized possessions. Maybe it’ll be for today’s snail mail, your keys, and your wallet when you get home after a long day, or maybe you’ll choose to display a short stack of books or magazines on your coffee table. Either way, you will want to clear it off every so often just so you can fully appreciate the reflection of light off its surface. Made from a steel sheet, the tray goes through a sophisticated molding technique to create the faceted texture. There’s also the JOY N. 1 Bowl, pictured below.

General Tray Artist Edition

We featured Good Thing’s General Tray back in February, but now they’re offering the tray in artist editions. Interested? Six different New York based artists are participating, and there’s only three one-of-a-kind pieces by each artist, so you’d best add your favorite version to your cart lickety-split or else you’ll miss out. They’d be the perfect hold-alls for your miscellany. Maybe with an artist’s edition you’re more likely to put things away so you can see the tray? Let’s say so, shall we?

Ash & Anchor Tea Towels

Whoa, have you ever seen such pretty tea towels? Ash & Anchor has quite a few wonderful patterns printed with earth friendly pigment inks on a linen/cotton blend. Buy one (or two) for yourself, one for your best friend, one for your mother, and, if you have another $25 to spare after all that, send one to me. I’ll take the Anodyne, no, wait, the Empire State… or the Tusk. Hmm, maybe I should just get all three.

Ora Teapot and Tea Cup Set

The same guy responsible for the x3 Watering Can, Paul Loebach, designed this double-walled glass teapot. There’s no need for a handle, as the insulating outer glass wall never gets too hot to handle. Hold, carry, and pour your tea with ease. To complete the set, add the Ora Tea Cups to the mix. (Note: the teapot and cup set would make a nice gift for certain upcoming events.)

x3 Watering Can

Yeah, it’s just a watering can, big deal. And, yes, a single metal tube is bent three times (hence the name) to create the handle and the pour spout. The handle allows it to be held from the top when full and at the side when watering. All those things plus a semi-decent price tag must mean that this year you’ll finally take decent care of your plants; with a watering can like this, who wouldn’t? Just don’t over water your plants accidentally while admiring the water can.

Voice Recorder by Richard Upchurch

Celebrate handcrafted noise with this Voice Recorder by Richard Upchurch. No, there’s no fanciness involved, it’s just a box with a voice recorder in it. However, the fun to be had is in the playback button and the control knob where you adjust the speed and pitch. Maybe think about filling up break time with a little bit of silly sound business? Or, better yet, it might be a good Mother’s Day gift if you record a heartfelt-yet-funny message?
