Concrete Brick Lamp by Hyfen

This LED lamp has no switch, shade, or wires, which begs the question, how on earth do you turn it on? Well, it’s more of an intuitive system, so, you simply raise it in an upright position to turn it on. Lay it facedown to turn it off. It’s completely portable- remember, no wires- so, pick it up and take it with you from room to room to get a warm, white light illuminating your immediate vicinity.

Lak Wall Sconce

This little Lak Wall Sconce manages to be both cute and considered. Made by Jielde, a company known for their work lamps, the sconce is a reissue of a design originally conceived in the 1960s by Jean Louis-Domecq. And, should you need a particular hue, you might just be thrilled to know there are many excellent color options available, in either a high gloss or matt finish, or you can get a more precise color match by requesting a RAL color chart.

Cymbal Pendant

Well, what do we have here? It’s a very simple pendant that uses the light bulb as support for the shades. Aluminum disks diffract the light and trick your eye with reflections of its environment. Does it remind you a little of the Grain Pendant by Brendan Ravenhill? It’s the same sort of idea, and a little more affordable at that.

‘Pion’ Lamps

A lamp by Bertjan Pot, you say? And it’s not too terribly expensive? Well, sign me up. The ‘Pion’ lamps for Wrong.London and Hay have a shape that references a pawn chess piece (‘Pion’ is the Dutch word for “pawn”). Crafted from a stitched composite ‘Nomex’ paper, the lamp gives off a soft, diffused glow that’s sure to set the right ambience in any room. The shape is supported by a steel frame and carbon-fibre rod, and, don’t worry, the shade is both UV-stable and flame resistant. Suitable for floor or table use.

Torch Lantern

Yep, it’s a flashlight and a camp lantern, but it would look just fine left out on your beside table. Not too bad, eh? The Torch Latern’s collapsible head lets it function as either a flashlight or a lantern. For a focused beam, keep it screwed tight, or unscrew the top to spread the light out in your tent or room. And, get this: it has a bottle opener (in its base, I think?). Also, check out the smaller Stashlight.

Maybe there’s nothing particularly wrong with your current task light, but does it pivot smoothly? Does it offer a 0-100% light level adjustment with just one hand? The Superlight LED Table Lamp does both, thanks to its 3-axis range of motion and ergonomic light switch. Plus, a 90 degree lens rotation gets light exactly where you want it.

Ada Sconce

The Ada Sconce is a versatile little light, for its shade is made of two adjustable reflectors on friction hinges. This means you can move the shades around in many different ways to direct the light exactly where you wish. Fans of Charlotte Perriand might recognize a little of her CP-1 Sconce in this design, as this light was inspired by that exact design. And, another nice tidbit: the Ada sconce is named for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which dictates that sconces in hallways must not protrude from the wall more than 4”.
