As you might have noticed, there have been a few posts lately from the recent and oh-so-long-ago past. That’s because it’s August, and, thankfully, that means it’s time to take a much needed vacation. So, instead of doing all brand spanking new posts each and every weekday, you’ll be seeing some content being fixed and updated and peppered into the line up, which is a good thing unless you like finding a lot of broken links every time you sift through our site.

All that to say that, thankfully, this Unfold Pendant remains at the same price as it was three years ago. Happy day. It’s one of my favorite lights because of its soft silicone shade. That allows this industrial look-a-like pendant to be easily folded, saving space in shipping (or your own moving) boxes.

With the new color pairing of black and brass, the Pixo looks like it has put on its tux (or little black dress) and is ready for a night out. As you might remember from our previous post last year, the standout feature of the Pixo is not necessarily the 360 degree rotation and three-axis articulated stem; instead its USB port in the base for charging mobile devices seems to set it apart from the pack.

This might seem like just a simple grey clock, but it has a clever rolling mechanism that allows it to display 24 different time zones. The hands work independently from the body, so you can roll the clock to whatever time zone you wish, and then roll it back to the local time. Fun bookends? Yes, please. WAKA WAKA’s Shin Okuda turns ordinary plywood into these colorful bookends. They’re sold in sets of two, in mismatched colors, mind you, so tell your books to stand up straight for their semi-crazy and exciting new friends. You DIYers might feel an itch to replicate these with your own shapes and colors, and, if so, go for it, as you’ll only need some plywood, glue, paint, and some sort of metal bookend to sandwich between the wood (right?).

If you choose any of the Fleche rugs for your home, you are allowed to be socially boring*. If you can’t beat the heat, at least try to enjoy it a little. This one inch thick 100% recycled plastic swing is paired with a 100% recycled PET rope to make sure you get some sort of breeze by using your own pair of legs. These three glasses are shaped differently yet each hold the same amount of liquid, hence their name. The familial likeness combined with the slight shape variation would add interest and movement to a table top, and, best of all, they’re stackable, so they’ll take up less space than normal glasses.

Is $80 too much for dominos? Probably. Does that keep me from wanting this set? Nope. Fun fact: the name ‘domino’ from the pieces’ resemblance to Venetian Carnival masks known as Domini, which were white with black spots. Similar to black + blum’s ‘Eau Good’ Filter Water Bottle, this Eau Carafe is the ideal candidate for storing water in your fridge. A binchotan active charcoal filter purifies the water while the overall shape is pleasing to hold and pour from; it’s even nice enough to keep it out during dinner. You can’t say that for many water purifiers.

If you’re interested in color theory, have I got the tea towels for you. Raw Color has created a series of tea towels that explore concepts from graphic design in woven form. From 10% to 100% intensity, each box of color appears to be printed on as a sort of large scale screen key (those little boxes on the sides of printed fabrics), yet each is expressed by altering the fabric weave. It’s the concept of print and traditional weaving combined. There’s also the Index Collection Blankets, which are even more impressive because of the larger scale; they’re available from Raw Color’s website for €375.

A tape dispenser is rarely described as anything other than just plain (snore) useful, but black + blum have certainly put their brains to use in creating one that is decidedly better than above average- and that translates into pretty damn good. Yep, you read it right, that’s a ‘damn’ in front of a ‘good’ and I’m talking about a tape dispenser.

Gravity removes the need for a separate spindle and the cast iron is heavy enough to use with one hand. So, it’s minimal, durable, and functional? Check, check, and check. And high five to you, black + blum, for creating an excellent alternative to the cheap and unattractive plastic versions found on too many desktops. If I shared an office with anyone other than my dog, I’d be hinting pretty hard that I’d want this for the next gift exchange.

What is this, you ask? It’s a Corner Hanging Bar, and it has come to rescue that pile of clothes on the floor. Now, this might be handier to have during the winter months, as there are all sorts of scarves and coats and such that seemingly multiply without so much as a second glance, but summer has its array of accessories as well. And, if you need some extra hanging space, this bar is a heck of a lot prettier than this guy, so you could put it out in the open in an unused corner space and not worry about building out an actual closet.
