Livada Fragrance Vase

If you or someone you love is challenged in the olfactory department, there’s no need to despair. This Livada Fragrance Vase will help enhance your sense of smell, thanks to its glass bell enclosure. A small hole at the top concentrates fragrances, so that you may enjoy the fragrant wafts of flowers (or whatever else you should so choose). Alternatively, this vase could be the answer to your ‘my-pet-always-eats-plants’ woes.

Gather Vases

The Gather Vases by Sam Anderson invite you to arrange your floral bouquet across a variety of different receptacles. Choose just one for for a singular statement or collect all five for a larger, more spectacular display. All are made from borosilicate glass, so they’ll withstand your occasional clumsiness (for the most part).

Ghost Vases

Show off those stems with either (or both) of these vases. Solid concrete paired with a wire frame makes the ideal receptacle for an interesting display of botanics. Magnets within the base keep the white frame stable, which makes eventual cleanup quick and easy.

True Colors Vase Collection

So pretty… any one of these vases will get you out of a pinch when it comes to selecting a gift. Dutch designer Lex Pott has made each vase from a different metal, with each cylinder shape showcasing both an oxidized and a highly polished finish. This contrast of organic patina and polished metal makes for a spectacular-yet-subtle statement.

Gardenias Vases by Jaime Hayon

If you’re going to get a vase, why not go all out and begin collecting Jamie Hayon’s Gardenia Vases for BD Barcelona? Purchase one at a time, so as to not shock your credit card, and know that any plant you put in it will look wonderfully weird (in the loveliest way possible). Each terracotta vase is hand-thrown in Hayon’s recognizable style.

Moooi Sponge Vase

Would you believe that we originally featured Marcel Wanders’ Sponge Vase way back in the fall of 2007? Here’s a quick lesson on how it’s made: a sponge form is dipped into fluid porcelain clay, then fired in an oven where the sponge burns away, leaving only the porcelain form in its place. Neat, right? I’d count it among one of the top gifts for any discerning design fan, as it’s a special object that looks good with or without something in it.

Floating Forest by Michael Anastassiades

Ah, thank goodness, you can now stop your search, for I’ve found you the perfect gift for any discerning modernist/minimalist. Each Floating Forest piece by Michael Anastassiades is composed of a hand-made brass planter that sits on the rim of any glass. By suspending a seed or plant above, growth is facilitated and exposed in its natural elegance. Now, the question is, just which one (or ones) shall you select?

OP-vases by Bilge Nur Saltik

Finding spectacular gifts for those favorite people in your life probably isn’t at the top of your priority list just yet, but, don’t you worry, I’m on the hunt. May I turn your attention toward this vision of a flower seen through cut glass? Thanks to visual distortions created by a kaleidoscopic effect, just one flower gives the impression of a bouquet. Yes, it is expensive, but, man-oh-man is it pretty and strange and amazing. Conclusion: excellent, high budget gift.

HAY Tree Trunk Vase

There’s nothing like a couple of Tree Trunk Vases to cheer you up. This cartoonish version of a tree trunk by British designer Richard Woods is for the newish Wrong for Hay collection (take a look, everything is pretty fun). Yes, that’s the same Richard Woods of the Wrongwoods line, which is an earlier collaboration between Woods and Sebastian Wrong (thank goodness they get along). I bet this vase would bring thoughts of happy characters triapsing through the woods, and also provide an excellent receptacle for branches, flowers and stems, of course.

Weight Vase by Decha Archjananun

You’ve seen the Weight Vases in the regular concrete grey, but get a load of the colors available. Are they not spectacular? Blue, yellow, and red round out the collection, giving you the option for a pop of bright, fun color to liven up your arrangements. I’ll be saving up for the low ‘A’ blue vase, I think.

Ruuto Vases

Delicate colors and various diamond-shaped sizes mean endless rearranging- in a fun sort of way. This sort of combination sets the Ruuto Vases firmly in the ‘excellent gift’ category. It takes seven craftsmen twenty four hours to create just one vase, as the colors require expert care and it takes time to create precise, square edges from lava-like liquid glass. Makes sense, doesn’t it? Have a look at Iittalia’s video below (from Dezeen) with Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec describing their thoughts on the Ruuto collection.

Weight Vases

Yes, here’s another vase, but considering the holiday that takes place this Sunday, I figure there is going to be a plethora of flowers around, and you’ll have ample opportunity to assess whether or not the receptacle in which they are placed is aesthetically acceptable. If it isn’t, you’re in the market for a better vase. Now, there’s no question in my mind that these Weight Vases by Decha Archjananum are acceptable and, in fact, desired for their minimal concrete bases and thin, steel frames. The frames keep flower stems upright while the base holds water and provides stability.

Spectra Vases

Just how lovely are these glass nesting vases? So lovely that they’re being reshuffled to an updated post for today, as the link and price have changed.

Pastels can sometimes look a bit boring, but these shades are quite beautiful. And, did you know that these colors are the same formulas as the original glass first made at Holmegaard back in 1839? Antique colors for a modern design… nice.

I’m a little in love with this simple vase. It has a series of interchangeable caps that complement the simple receptacle, giving you various options to display your floral arrangements. Or maybe you’d prefer just a vase caps to add to any glass you currently have for a quick modern update? Several designs are available.
