Lino Paper Knife

This paper knife is so sleek it’s scary. A solid black matte finish and a super sharp point make it look like it’s a futuristic weapon, and you’re welcome to pretend it’s such as long as you don’t engage in any role play- someone is bound to get hurt. Keep it on your desk, admire it for its sculptural shape, and use it safely, as intended, as a paper knife.

Funno Pencil Sharpener

What is this magical, mysterious thing? It looks infinitely more special than something that keeps a writing implement sharpened, but that’s the whole idea- you can leave it out on your desk without offending anyone’s eyes. Machined from a solid block of metal, it easily doubles as a paperweight. Do be sure to consider the Penpo Desk Organizer ($88) as well, as they’d make an excellent pairing on your desktop.

My Spot Bauhaus Memento Display

Hey, how about a string, a weight, and some anchors to hold up your important photos and notes? That sounds dreadfully dull, but it’s not, I promise. My Spot is just a very, very minimal approach to a pin board. Gravity keeps the string taut, allowing the anchors to hold your postcards, calendar pages, and notes within reach and perfectly displayed on a simple, horizontal line. Switch out your items easily without succumbing to the mess of a traditional bulletin board.

.ORG Deskscape System

Now, don’t have an apoplectic fit when you see the price tag along with the image above- there’s more than just a small wooden container for your odds and ends. Rather, the price is for the whole .ORG Deskscape System from L & G Studio (a.k.a. Ladies & Gentlemen Studio) in collaboration with Pat Kim. Midori MD 2015 Monthly Notebook

Do you have your 2015 planner yet? No? May I suggest Midori’s MD 2015 Monthly Notebook? It’s a minimal planner that has plenty of blank space for your notes and sketches. Often planners get a little too crowded with text and someone else’s idea of organization, and that’s why the quiet pages of this planner seem especially welcoming. Memo pages are divided into eight sections so that you may use them as weekly pages or just for notes. That plus the monthly layouts and blank pages at the back allows room for you to organize dates and information the way you prefer. The Midori Monthly Notebook’s pages open flat as they’re bound by strings.

Magnet 6

These knob-like wooden things are magnets. Or, rather, these knob-like wooden things have magnets embedded within their rounded ends, to be precise. I bet you an imaginary nickel that these set of 6 magnets would look much nicer than any plastic magnets you’ve got hanging around, and I’d probably be right, unless you have some really cool plastic magnets that I don’t know about. Unlikely, but entirely possible.

Tool The Bookworm: Quill, Hand and Pen

I know, you rarely have time for books, and even then it’s safe to say you’re likely to pick up a Kindle or iPad instead of a paperback or hardcover. However, on that rare occasion you do read a book, it’d be nice to have a bookmark made of a digitally etched sheet of golden brass, wouldn’t it? Tom Dixon brings us the Quill, Hand and Pen, all of which would be quite at home in any of your favorite books.
