Desk Organizers

Iso Organizer L

Well, hello there. The Iso Organizer now comes in a larger, longer profile, which is pretty perfect for organizing all sorts of papers, mail, and books. It’s made of heavy gauge cold rolled steel (6 lbs.) with a cork underside, so it’ll stay put without scratching the surface underneath. I have the original size (in blue) on my desk and I’m now trying to think if I need this larger version somewhere else. Hmm.

Pinorama Board

All those little pieces of paper and bits and bobs scattered about, just where are you going to put them? Maybe on a perforated metal sheet, with a partial cork backing like this Pinorama Board by Inga Sempe for HAY? I’d say it’s as good as any other place, especially as it has a range of accessories (shelves, mirrors, cylinders, an elastic net(!), and hooks) to customize it just the way you want.

HAY UU Trays

More Hay office miscellany, and this time it’s a tray for your writing implements and other small stuff. A sloped, scalloped surface provides ledges for odds and ends, and there are three sizes to fit however much you need. Do consider stacking several sized together for a bigger organizing option.

Paper Display

This Paper Display by Jamie Wolfond & Sam Anderson (and available from good thing) simply acts as a curved base to provide papers to stand. Think of it for displaying your current project paperwork or for showcasing photos and notes. Standard Magnets

Small, turned, wooden magnets will only enhance those papers, notes, and tear-outs that create that elegant web of ideas you have, thus allowing that brain of yours to settle upon brilliant results previously unknown. These Standard Magnets are available from Fort Standard in a set of six and feature very strong rare-earth magnets, so they’ll hold up all manner of things (keys, perhaps?) with no problem.

My Spot Bauhaus Memento Display

Hey, how about a string, a weight, and some anchors to hold up your important photos and notes? That sounds dreadfully dull, but it’s not, I promise. My Spot is just a very, very minimal approach to a pin board. Gravity keeps the string taut, allowing the anchors to hold your postcards, calendar pages, and notes within reach and perfectly displayed on a simple, horizontal line. Switch out your items easily without succumbing to the mess of a traditional bulletin board.

Hafod Grange Teasel Paperweight

A spiny head of a hand-picked teasel doesn’t sound pretty, but up close it’s a beauty to behold. Dipsacus fullonum is the plant’s proper name, by the way, and the prickly bracts are friendlier to inspect and admire when enclosed safely within polyester resin. It may be an excellent gift for anyone who appreciates botanical oddities, but I’d say you could justify purchasing one for yourself, as it is a paperweight, and therefore can be classified under office supplies. Do take a look at the full selection of Hafod Grange Paperweights, as you may want to start a collection (the Dandelion is spectacular).

Nest Office Caddy

Hmm, this little office caddy has caught my eye with its simple compartments for those small(ish) desk essentials. However, it’s not just for paperclips and rubber bands; stack a few for extra storage or use the steel frame as a stand for your phone or tablet. The frame may also be used as a handle if you tend to move around your home or office to work. And, it’s now on sale, from $80 to $32(!).

Buba Magnet Board

Magnetic bulletin boards aren’t new, as you can find them in any office supply store. However, a simple, sleek board that would work just as well in the kitchen or entryway is a little rarer to find. With an oblong shape and a white finish, the Buba accepts a variety of magnetized objects, most notably its companions the Mirror Magnet, the Vila Magnet (3D printed in the shape of a dragonfly) and the LaLa Magnet Vase.

.ORG Deskscape System

Now, don’t have an apoplectic fit when you see the price tag- it’s not per piece, rather it’s for the whole .ORG Deskscape System from L & G Studio (a.k.a. Ladies & Gentlemen Studio) in collaboration with Pat Kim. Four modules can be combined in different ways to suit your needs: there’s a mail organizer with adjustable metal dividers, a zig zag catch all tray, a cork block for pinning messages and cards, and the double container for smaller items you see above. Take a look and tell me if you’re not tempted to organize your desktop immediately afterwards.

ISO Desktop Organizer

See all those dividers? See the bold blue? Is there any surprise I bought one of these the moment Field announced its existence? And, it has taken weeks (weeks!) for me to place in the spotlight. Apologies. As you might have guessed from the name, the ISO Organizer’s design and dimensions are based on international paper standards. Made from heavy-gauge cold rolled steel, the powder-coated divider has a thin cork underside to protect your desktop. With its hefty weight (almost 6 lbs.) and sturdy construction, it’s bound to scare any unruly piles of paper into order.

Hay Punched Organizers

A little perforated pattern won’t harm your kitchen or desktop, for it adds a little punch of organization with its tidy grids- maybe subconsciously it will encourage you to get your ducks in a row, so to speak. Perhaps your kitchen utensils will sit nicely in the larger holder, or maybe your pens will be at home in the low tray, either way, it always helps to have a couple of containers around to confine necessary clutter.
