Calendars

Timor Calendar by Enzo Mari

Designed in 1967, this particular perpetual calendar isn’t going anywhere; it’s in MoMA’s collection, if that gives you any clue to its staying power. Easy to use and easy to see, just flip the lithographed PVC cards to show the day of the week, date, and month.

Hanging Ring Perpetual Calendar

If you like the idea of a perpetual calendar, then add this Hanging Ring Calendar to your list of considerations. Change the date by rotating the rings and visually experience the cyclical nature of our calendar system. It would be an interesting accent on a wall in an office, living area, or even a kid’s room (if the child was old enough not to attempt to use the rings as frisbees).

Mark’s Notebook Calendars

Okay, don’t freak out, it’s just a calendar for 2015. You still have three whole months left until the new year rolls around, which is plenty of time to get your ducks in a row, so to speak. This past year I’ve kept my months organized by using one of Mark’s Notebook Calendars, and I’ll probably repeat the habit next year. There’s three different sizes- small, medium, and large- and it’s satisfyingly slim. Front-facing pages display the current month plus there’s just one yearly plan page- nothing else to weigh you down.

Stendig Oversized Calendar

Ugh, really? A 2015 calendar already? I know, it’s a little frightening that we’re nearing the end of 2014, but at least we can get ahead of the game and order a Stendig to prepare ourselves. The oversized Stendig Calendar has been in production for 40+ years- Massimo Vignelli created the design in 1966- and remains a classic option for keeping your dates straight.

Stick-Up Monthly Planner

If you had one of these Stick-Up Monthly Planners you could keep better track of certain events like Mother’s Day in the UK this Sunday (Mother’s Day in the US is May 11, sorry if my post yesterday confused you). And, in true Poketo style, the planner is open dated so you can use it whenever you wish. In busy months, write down important events and stick the page on a mirror or wall so you won’t forget. And, of course, there’s always the Stick-Up Weekly Calendar ($10) if you need more detail.

Postalco Wall Calendar

Another calendar for your consideration… and yes, we featured it last year, but you could probably use a reminder, right? Postalco’s wall calendar has the year laid out in a list format, making “elusive time visible,” as they say. There’s space next to each day to notate important events with extra room at the bottom for reminders, plans, or ideas.

Monthly Measure Perpetual Calendar

It’s back to work for most of us, and let’s ring in the new year by getting your calendar sorted. How about tracking the date with a perpetual calendar that’s also a metric ruler? Sebastian Bergne’s Monthly Measure fulfills both duties with its die-cast star and sawtooth-edged ruler. Placed at one centimeter intervals, the date can be marked by rolling the star along the edge.

Calendar Stationery Box

Perhaps this might be a little fussy for some of us, but for others, it’s a nice way to display the date while having a hidden compartment for smaller papers/mementos and such. It definitely has a mid century vibe to it (e.g. the designs of Charles and Ray Eames) which means it would fit in nicely with that sort of interior, or even better, place it in a kids’ room to help teach your little one about the calendar year. Hang it on a wall or place on a surface.
