Falling Line Rug

Another exciting (if you think rugs are exciting) product from good thing is the Falling Line Rug by Sam Anderson. How so? Well, the hand-woven rugs strike the right balance of color and pattern without overwhelming the senses. There’s a little of a digital/pixel feel that keeps it modern while the mostly neutral hues will work well with your existing pieces.

As promised, here are the Block Shop Rugs. Made of 100% Indian cotton, dyed and woven by hand, each rug features a simple, graphic design that’s sure to liven up any lonely room. Dhurries, if you’re not familiar, are flat woven rugs designed for heavy use. While they don’t have a thicker pile like other rugs, they are lightweight, durable, and reversible. Now, to choose a favorite… it’d have to be the Walter or the Temple, I think.

DIMORESTUDIO Rugs

‘Price upon request’ is never a good thing to see when you’re on a tight budget, so let’s just all pretend that we can afford these bold and colorful rugs from DIMORESTUDIO. Feast your eyes upon the graphic blocks of color, in strange, non-rectangular shapes that will definitely set an edgy vibe in any room. I’d be tempted to hang them on the wall, as they feel more like art pieces than something to trod upon.

Sail Rope Mat

If you’re going to add a little nautical flair to your surroundings, please, please, please make it one of these rope mats by Sophie Aschauer. Reclaimed sailing ropes are woven with four different knots- referred to as “Bonny”, “Drake”, “Morgan” and “Killigrew” (pirates from the 17th century, by the way)- into doormats or smaller sized area rugs. Remember that the rope is reclaimed, so they’ll show a little bit of wear, but that’s a small price to pay for such color and texture.

Atelier Février Rugs

Prepare yourself, because the rugs from Atelier Février are not cheap, and that’s a bit of an understatement. The Diamond and Sri di Rugs are made of 100% Tibetan wool that is hand-carded and hand-spun; the Nazar rug is made of silk and Himalayan Wool. All are hand-knotted by Tibetan artisans. You should have heard a slight swooshing sound at each of those compound adjectives; they indicate the price tag leaping up way over your budget. The designs are quite beautiful and compelling, as their off-kilter lines keep your eyes enthralled.

Zohra Wool Kilim Rug

Triangles! In various colors! On a black background! Come on, take a risk on rug, why don’t you. It’s pretty affordable, and, bonus points, it’s handwoven in India in a Fair Trade Certified™ facility. Aelfie Rugs

Once again, here’s a bunch of geometric rugs that are impossible to choose between. I’m sure you’ll be able to pick your favorite, but I’m having a hard time deciding which pattern is most pleasing. The black, grey, and white Olivia Rug? The blue Maimana Rug? The Saskia Rug? Ugh, choices…choices.

El Prado Rug from grain

Is anyone else in the mood for some crazy rugs? Maybe it’s the summer heat, but there’s something about this optical grid patterned rug from grain that looks just right. No need to worry about where it came from either, as each rug is handwoven by “artisan weavers in the Western Highlands of Guatemala using locally sourced and dyed wool.” Does that make you like it a little more? Their Momostenango Rug also hits the spot.

Oslo, Fanfare, Code, Azi, Division Rugs

Code words? Nah, just a bunch of rugs. A certain retailer just released a slew of new products, and I’ve got to say, they’re killing it in the rug department. All of the rugs are affordable, so don’t expect silk or anything made with unicorn hair, but just take a look and tell me you don’t think they’re a decent bunch of patterned rugs. I dare you. (If you should take my dare, I’ll tell you to find another retailer with a better selection in the same price range, and then we’ll argue about which one of us has better taste, so, be prepared.)
