Steel Tool Box

It’s a no nonsense tool box, on sale. Two-tier, so you’ll be able to fit larger items below and smaller items above, and it’s in a two-tone steel and black powdercoat finish so it won’t mess up your interior style. Now, just what will you organize with the help of this Italian tool box? Your tools, of course, or your crafts, or picnic supplies… whatever you want.

Clemens Auer Tweezers

Ordinary tweezers aren’t for you, or maybe they are until you see these odd tweezers by Clemens Auer. The circular solution was inspired by the pinching gesture, and is a unique alternative to those other typical grooming instruments. And, apparently, they are “functionally superior.” I believe it.

Cork Flashlight

A cork flashlight! Now, that’s a good idea for boaters or anyone that loves taking baths in thunderstorms. Cork floats, of course, so there’ll be no losing this light in water. Plus, the cork adds a warmth and softness to an otherwise usually cold and metal tool. Bright LEDs will shed plenty of light out on the water or staying in at home.

I scarcely know… Izola Pocket Knife

Talk about the basics, everyone needs a pocket knife. This one from Izola is made from 100% stainless steel and contains a corkscrew, large blade, bottle and can opener, and screwdriver. You never know when you’ll need one of those tools, right? The words “I scarcely know where to commence.” are engraved upon the surface.

Mininch Tool Pen

Ah-ha! This looks like a pen, but it’s really a multi-purpose tool hidden inside a pen-like casing. It’s perfect for those of us that like to be prepared for anything, yet can’t really justify wearing a tool belt everywhere we go (sooo cumbersome, right?). The 16 tool bits can be easily switched out- they’re all stored within the pen, so you cycle through to the one you need*. Taiwanese architect Yu–Hung Cheng and his team call it the world’s first “pop–a–point” pen style tool.

Tropical Walnut Abner Tool Box

This is the nicest toolbox ever. You certainly wouldn’t want to hide it away on dusty shelf in the garage, so think beyond just nails and hammers. Maybe it could keep sewing supplies organized, or your jewelry collection tucked away safe and sound. Made with Nogal wood (a.k.a. Tropical Walnut), each toolbox is made by skilled Nicaraguan craftsmen and features comb joints and an interior tray for smaller items. The tray and lid slot easily through the handle for a clean, streamlined look. On a personal note, I’ve had my eye on this Toolbox for a year now, and recently I was able to see it in person; it’s beautiful and well worth the price point.

Hand-Eye Supply Pocket Nail and Tool Belt

If you’re even the tiniest bit handy with tools, you should get yourself a tool belt. Why? You know when you’re standing on a ladder, messing with a ceiling light, and you need a different screw head for your drill? Or when you’re hanging new drapes, and you realize you didn’t measure correctly? It sure would be better to reach down and find the appropriate tool right on your tool belt instead of climbing down off the ladder, wouldn’t it?

Craftworker Cabinet

Let’s take a moment to geek out just a tiny bit over this Craftworker Cabinet. For $130, you get a wooden cabinet with flip-open doors along with a starter kit of 27 tools, from basic to professional. 27 tools, in a cabinet, that you can hang on a wall or tuck in a closet or under the bed. The set was first produced in 1919, and it shouldn’t be a surprise that it’s still one heck of a deal. Is there a better housewarming gift for someone’s first home? Nope.

Trusco Tool Box TY-410-SV

Would you happen to need a small-ish Trusco Tool Box? Don’t worry, I’m not going to link you to a Craigslist ad, it’s just that this one is quite affordable and looks to be almost indestructible. It might be a good home for the odd medley of screwdrivers, hammers and nails you have yet to find a resting spot for, or, maybe it could even hold your sewing tools or drawing supplies? And, for an extra dose of cute (if a toolbox can be cute) is the smaller sized TY-320-SV ($45).

Clippa Mini Tools Clip

Okay, seeing as anything decent gadget-wise makes it onto our pages, it would seem silly to eliminate this Clippa purely because it takes the shape of a hair clip I don’t like. Besides, maybe you do like the hair clip I’m referencing, and therefore you love the idea of a clip that incorporates screwdrivers, a ruler, a cutter, a bottle opener, and a 5/16 wrench all in the petite size of 6 x 2.4cm. Choose between the Clippa Blackfin (which has the bottle opener feature), the pink Clippa Lady (not shown), and the original stainless steel Clippa.

Porter Key Knife & Bottle Opener

Those pesky boxes and bottles. You always need something to help open them, unless you possess extremely strong teeth. Here’s a combination knife and bottle opener that’s ideal for your keychain, and it’s made from 3Cr13 stainless steel. The bottle opener portion is dual-layered at the axis point, making it easy to pry off bottle caps. The locking blade folds out for a sharp cut, so you’ll be ready to open those things you ordered online faster than you can say ‘where’s-my-utility-knife’. Back the Porter Key Knife & Bottle Opener on Kickstarter.

Cargo Box Container by Alessi

You need more storage options for your stuff? What are you, a pack rat? Just kidding, I know you aren’t- everything you have is absolutely necessary… right? Maybe the Cargo Box will work best to corral the clutter, as it’s shaped like a classic toolbox with a few inner compartments and a thin wooden handle for easy carrying. If you prefer more inner compartments, be sure to consider the Toolbox by Arik Levy as well.

Master Kit #5575

If your toolbox is a mess, with missing hex bits and no Phillips Head to be found, you could probably use a complete tool overhaul. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you are either very lucky, very rich, or have your home falling apart. In any case, this Master Kit has pretty much everything you need should you need a basic tool set, all in a securely latching box.

Trusco Deluxe Tool Box

Who wants a big, blue tool box designed smack dab (or close enough) in the middle of the 20th century? I certainly do. Talk about a robust sort of toolbox, the Trusco Deluxe is made from stamped-steel with a bold blue enameled finish. That beats the pants off any plastic toolbox you’re bound to find at any hardware store. Open it in one smooth motion to find several spots for organizing your tools and/or art supplies; the dividers are removable so adjust them to fit your needs.

Credit Card Multi Tool

Do you need a Credit Card Multi Tool thingamajig? That answer is probably ‘heck, yeah’ if your bag or pocket is missing a bottle opener, package opener, screwdriver, can opener, ruler, wrench, butterfly screw wrench, auxiliary wrench, and/or a direction indicator, and this little tool has all of those with a key chain hole, of course. You won’t think you need any one of those things until you do, at which point you’ll be mumbling profanities at the fact that you didn’t spend $12 for this thin, stainless steel sheet.
