Chopping Board Set

When you’re out on an adventure there’s no reason to do without decent kitchen tools. This medium sized chopping board folds up and stores a knife inside, allowing you to prepare foods with ease on your picnic or camping trip. Does that mean you don’t have to suffer through anymore soggy sandwiches? Yep, it sure does.

All On Board

Now, isn’t this a convenient cutting board? Designer Alain Gillesโ€™ All On Board is a wooden cutting board just like your others, yes, but it rests within a useful plastic scoop. This scoop slides along the board, allowing you to separate food from their scraps for easy disposal and move ingredients directly from board to pan. The funnel-shaped handle acts as a pouring vessel for juices or stocks- handy for those ‘au jus’ dishes, right?

Triangle Cutting Board

Don’t ask me why you need a triangle cutting board, because I don’t know. Maybe you simply cannot stand rectangles and only allow equilateral shapes in your vicinity at all times. If that’s the case, you’re a little weird/crazy and we should probably be friends. Each triangle is handcrafted by local San Francisco wood worker Luke Bartels from locally salvaged and milled wood. Three sizes available.

Hand-Painted Abstract Cutting Boards

Okay, so this isn’t going to appeal to everyone, but hand-painted cutting boards! With abstract shapes! Is that not extremely fun to see in the realm of kitchen tools? They’ve got a good safe mineral oil finish, though you’ll still want to take care and treat these boards as what they are: three quarters utilitarian kitchen staple and one quarter piece of art.

Guys, did you know cutting boards can be fun? As in, not just bright, kindergarten-like-colors, but a variety of pleasant hues in blocky shapes and various sizes? Made from hygienic polyethylene, these boards are extra stable thanks to stay-put dots on their base. Fun!

Zig Zag Cutting Board Set

The Zig Zag Cutting Board Set does double duty; use the flat side as a cutting board or flip it around to use the zig zag side as a trivet or serving board. Plus, they’ll stack and store neatly away when not in use. Both pieces are finished with a food safe, homemade all-natural mix of beeswax and oil (a small tin of the wood balm is included). Nice, huh?

ButcherBlock by HollerDesign

These end grain ButcherBlocks are very durable; the design allows you to cut in between the fibers of the wood instead of across them like most cutting boards. This makes for easy maintenance and a very long lifetime, which are two important features for any cutting board over the $100 mark.

Maple Raised Chopping Block

Short on counter space? The Maple Raised Chopping Block is just for you, as it creates space underneath for placing knives or other accoutrements. Quality craftsmanship takes it straight to the table for food presentation, as the sliding dovetail joints are cut with such precision that no glue is required. It’s equally suited for camping, as the legs keep the board off the ground and the surface is long grain (instead of the usual end grain) to keep the board light and packable.

Chopping Blocks

Nice! These solid American Ash chopping boards are made from off-cuts. That means every circle, octagon, or square board you buy, you’re reducing the amount of wood that ends up in a landfill. Each block has a rope handle for convenient hanging for storage (or for swinging it around your head when you want to look crazy or dangerous).

Hex Cutting Board

Shoot, I’m such a sucker for geometric anything. Simply facet the edges of an American Maple wood board and I’m already contemplating plonking down a credit card, no matter how many cutting boards already reside in my kitchen cabinets. Now, the faceted edges do make the board easier to pick up (on one side), so it is actually a functional feature as well as a stylistic choice.

River Rock Cutting Boards

Smooth and rounded edges make these cutting boards a pleasure to use, as the organic shapes would fit well within your hands as you prepare and serve your snacks and meals. Each board is made using local wood, so you can be certain each board (or set) will be unique. They’d make a nice change from the regular, squared-off chopping block boards, especially as they look quite sculptural in a stack by themselves. You wouldn’t be crazy to leave them out on a shelf or countertop for visual appreciation.

Chops Cutting Boards and Knife Rack

Knives and cutting boards: two things that work together in the kitchen yet are often pulled from different spots. Chops combines the two, with a metal knife rack that holds two cutting boards upright for storage. Take off one board (or both) and you’ll see the simple black frame of the knife rack. After prep and cleaning, reset the boards on either side, and you have what appears to be just a slender wooden knife rack. Pretty handy.

I know just what you need: a couple of odd-shaped cutting boards. Right? They’ll be just the thing to add a little interest to your charcuterie and cheese spread, and they won’t hurt your wallet either.
