Mirrors

Hex Corner Mirror

I’m sure there’s some corner of your home that would benefit from the Hex Corner Mirror from Hyfen. The mirror fits into any corner to reflect other parts of the room. Placed strategically, it could let you keep an eye on a certain spot of your home (the front door or fridge?) or ensure that coworkers can’t sneak up on you behind your desk. Shaped as a hexagon, it lends an edgier vibe that’s sure to work with your surroundings.

Pocket Mirror

How important is it to have a mirror with a pocket? Pretty damn important when you’ve lost your keys/phone for the hundredth time and you’re running late and does your hair look okay? Keep those certain essentials in the integrated storage pocket of this mirror and never curse your lack of organization again.

Merve Kahraman Mirrors

Merve Kahraman cleverly uses Kvadrat fabric to create pattern on his Pontiac Mirrors. Handcrafted on wood and foam (sounds like a DIY project, doesn’t it?), each mirror’s form is accentuated by fabric lines. A thin wood accent is meant to create an “earthy feeling,” further reinforcing the Native American vibe that serves as inspiration. If the price point is a bit too high for your liking, try making your own (and send me the pics!).

Mirrors by Alex Drew & No One

Mirror, mirror, on the wall… you’re different enough to hang in my home. The Hex Mirror by by Alex Drew & No One features a contrasting inside edge just to make it more special. They also offer the Simplex Mirror, which has a triangular mirror inside a rectangular frame, with a few lines thrown in to accentuate the point. The Simplex Hydrangea, perhaps my favorite, has the same design but with an antiqued, color-washed mirror. Oh, and to make things even better, you can work with the designer to change up the colors to suit your specific taste. Fun.

Split Mirrors

Feeling a little disjointed? Don’t worry, it’s just the mirror. Sections of mirrored glass are cut and pushed off-center to give a playful twist to an otherwise ordinary reflection. Take a look at the designer’s website and you’ll be able to see a theme, I think. It’d be interesting to try and make your own, wouldn’t it? Bonus points to you if you make an attempt (you’ll get an A for effort).

Transience Mirrors

The tonal colors on the handmade Transience Mirrors involve a little chemistry. Sulfur is used to create layers of color; the longer the chemical is left to oxidize, the deeper the color. With repeating geometric shapes reinforcing each mirror’s perimeter, you’ll have a strong visual statement fit for any room. The hard part will be choosing your favorite- in addition to the Large Mirror Circle you see above, there’s the smaller Mirror Circle, the Large Mirror Rectangle, the Large Mirror Triangle, the Large Cubic Mirror, and the Mirror Linear.

Ruban Mirrors by Inga Sempé

Feeling lonely? I know just what you need: a few Ruban mirrors to keep you company. Inga Sempé brings us this collection of small mirrors, all framed by a colorful ribbon. The smallest is sized at just over 3″ square while the larger measures in at around 17″ wide. I bet you’ll have fun hanging these up and arranging them just so… they’ll let light bounce around a bit more and liven up your living quarters.

Arch Floor Mirror

“What’s through there?” That’s what your friends will be saying until they smack their foreheads against this mirror (they’re not too bright, those friends of yours, poor things). Just think, your place will look like it gained another room at first glance, thanks to the elegant optical illusion of the arched design. Look closely and you’ll see several varying tints create a shaded effect; a small detail, yes, but quite effective. There’s the floor sized version (shown) as well as a smaller 32″ height that would work well on a console or credenza. And, if you want to go crazy, take a look at the Dune Mirror.

Mirror Mask

You are allowed any of these three mirrors. However, let’s hope that the frowny face ‘no‘ mirror reflects your attitude less of the time, and that the smiley face ‘yes‘ mirror reflects your attitude most of the time. The ‘maybe‘ mirror is for all the times in between.

Prisma Mirror

What the what. Take a look at this mirror with its crazy geometric wire frame extending outwards, and tell me that it’s not a steal for a hundred smackers. Hang it vertically, hang it horizontally, and admire the sight of geometric lines reflecting right back at you. Feel free to hang a few things from the frame (jewelry, accessories?) if it suits. Notice the similarity to the Prisma Jewelry Organizer? Yep, same designer.

Tafla Mirrors

Remember the Plopp Stool? Well, that kind of manufacturing process (called FiDU, by the way: ‘Freielnnen Druck Umformung’ = ‘free inner pressure deformation’) isn’t going to just be confined to seating, thank goodness, as that would be a crying shame. Just look at the Tafla Mirrors. Are they not stupendous? Are they not stunning? They’re certainly not cheap (understandably), but man-oh-man, are they spectacular.

mc&co Irregular Round Mirror

You see an irregular round mirror, which is sort of interesting, and then, as you step to the side, a punch of day-glow color from the recessed frame hits you in the face. That, my friend, raises the bar from sort-of-interesting to high-five-awesome. There’s a few different options in colored glass as well as frames; take a look at mc&co for the full collection.

Anamorphosis Mirror

This mirror will play around with your perception of its shape, as the oval will distort and change as you change your perspective. Particularly suited for make-up application, the mirror shows both the front and sides of the face, which allows you a full three dimensional view of your face as the world sees it, in all its wondrous glory.
