Banks

Hedgefund Piggy Bank

If you need a little coaxing in saving your coins, this Hedgefund Piggy Bank might do the trick. Toss a coin and watch it run laps around the wood funnel top, going ‘down the drain’, so to speak. It’d be great for emptying pockets of change, of course, and one would hope that your savings would see a small spike in deposits. (Also, does it or does it not appear to say ‘hedgefonds’ with an o? Weird.)

Grass Flocked Banks

Grass. Flocked. Animal. Banks. Can you handle it? Yeah, they’re a little weird and slightly camp, but really, other than that, they’re wonderful. They actually look like moss is covering them. The picture above is just an approximation as to how tall they are in relation to each other, fyi.

This porcelain skull is a good sized smallish bank at 4.5″ x 6″ x 4″ and it’s also super affordable. So, if you’re needing a ‘darker’ way to save money, perhaps you should snap one or two up and call it a day.

DUEL Saving Bank

Cute. Maybe you want to make sure your significant other (or roommate) saves the same as you, or maybe you have two things worth saving for, you’re just not sure which is more important… either way this bank is a fun way to make sure bills and coins are kept safe. The white porcelain can be easily written on and erased over, and you can retrieve your money by sliding off the red silicone band.

Chalk-it-to-me Piggy Bank

Cute, no? This chalkboard piggy bank allows you to draw or label just what you’re saving for and the cork spout looks like it would make retrieving your funds quick and easy, which might not be a good thing…

Doggy Bank

For those of you more discerning modern art aficionados, you’ll clue in pretty quick that this is not a Balloon Dog from Jeff Koons. Maybe the $79 price tag was a hint. Nevertheless, for anyone that appreciates the look of the original, this bank is an affordable alternative.

YOURS Customizable Leather “Milk Carton” Coin Bank

I almost didn’t post this because my favorite color, black, was sold out, but the concept is just so darn cute and hey, some people might dig the other colors available as well as some of the other cute products by YOURS.

Bubble Bank

I’d wager a guess that you’d want to treat this more as a sort of objet d’art than an actual functioning bank as you’d have to break it to cash in, which would be a mighty shame. The way things are going some coins will obsolete soon anyways, so you could get a start on your own tiny museum of pennies, nickels and dimes.

Filigree Skull Money Box

Sometimes you have to spend money to save it, right? And a filigree skull money box is a lot more rock star than visiting your local bank, so maybe you’ll be encouraged to fill it up with change.

Daniel Piršč envisioned porcelain lace, which he applied to enchanting effect on this skull moneybox. “Porcelain can be different,” declares the ceramicist, who set out on this quest when he established his namesake studio in the Czech Republic town of Mikulov in 2005…This money box must go under the hammer to access any savings inside, forcing the coin collector to come to terms with what exactly is most precious…
