Ruban Mirrors by Inga Sempé

Feeling lonely? I know just what you need: a few Ruban mirrors to keep you company. Inga Sempé brings us this collection of small mirrors, all framed by a colorful ribbon. The smallest is sized at just over 3″ square while the larger measures in at around 17″ wide. I bet you’ll have fun hanging these up and arranging them just so… they’ll let light bounce around a bit more and liven up your living quarters.

Workhorse Perpetual Calendar

Another calendar already and it’s not even the end of August? I know, I know, but this one is a perpetual calendar. Anyone who’s visited this site often enough will know that I’m fanatic about perpetual calendars, specifically well-designed ones, so I can’t not post it. This one from Workhorse Printmakers is letterpress printed, foil stamped and die cut for a functional circular design. Workhorse also has a green calendar on their site, if that suits you better.

Clock Clock 24

Whoa, here’s a clock that’ll knock anyone’s socks off. You’ll need to watch the video to get the full effect, but here’s a quick explanation: the twenty-four small round clocks create one big digital display. All the smaller clock hands are choreographed to show either 12- or 24-hour time, with three different modes of movement. As I said before, watch the video and you’ll appreciate how this clock is almost more of an art piece than a time telling device… hence the price.

Hay Cacti

Ceramic cacti: they’re perfect for you, even if you tend to kill every plant you’ve ever touched. Sculptor Lina Cofán has crafted these life-size cacti to give you very low maintenance plants. Sure, they’re a bit shiny, but they won’t need a drop of water. And, as long as you don’t drop them, they’ll last forever. Kinda fun, right?

How in the world would you ever be late if you had these oversized hands to tell the time? The big, rounded proportions pack a graphic punch across the room, so even if you are almost blind, you’ll know the time. Choose the petrol for its pink and turquoise hands, or go with the white for a more strict color scheme.

Map of the Constellations

Are you going to stay up late to watch the Perseid Meteor Shower tonight? You should try, as there’s going to be quite the show- between 160 and 200 meteors every hour until Friday morning. That’s a “meteor hurricane.” For other times, you could gaze upon Best Made’s Map of the Constellations to contemplate the stars above, as it charts the stars of both northern and southern hemispheres and includes helpful diagrams of earth’s axis, phases of the moon, solstices, equinoxes, and eclipses.

Japanese Porcelain Stacking Tools

My goodness, this stacking set packs quite the punch in tools. A mortar with pestle, a ginger/garlic/zest grater, a citrus juicer, and a storage canister (that also acts as a ladle holder) all stack together for a unified system. So, don’t go running back to the kitchen to get whatever tool you need, bring the whole thing to the table for an impressive display of dinner prep right in front of your guests and/or family. They’ll be awed by your efficiency and skills (let’s hope for the best case scenario).

Sweep-It Set

You don’t have to tell me how hard it is to keep dust and dirt at bay; I had a dog that liked to step in mud at every opportunity, plus a cat that shed all over the place all the effing time. I have Ole Jensen’s Dustpan and Brush, but this Sweep-It Set by Klaus Rath for Stelton looks like it would be more functional for everyday messes. The lotus wood brush nests neatly with the dustpan, and it can be easily stored under the sink or hung from a hook.

Focal LED Lamp with USB Port

It’s great to see that USB ports are now incorporated into some task lamps, especially as most of our outlets are overwhelmed with plugs and wires. This Focal LED Lamp has an easy-to-access USB port right at its base- no need to fuss around behind your computer or at your charging station for a free spot. Its head tilts left and right and spins 180 degrees on its post to focus its energy-efficient LEDs right where you want. Three levels of brightness give you more control over light intensity. Pepper Tray

Pepper dust. If you have a pepper mill, you know all about how it sits just under your mill whenever you set it down, creating little dust piles of pepper. How about a tray to keep it contained?
