Electric Paint Pen

That’s right, it’s an electric paint pen. It’s completely safe, as the electrically conductive paint is formatted to be non-toxic, solvent-free, and water-soluble, and only becomes conductive when dry. And what would you use this pen for? If you’re especially handy, you could repair devices, draw circuits on all sorts of materials, solder stuff… you fill in the rest. The paint dries after five minutes and can be removed with soap and water. Oh, and there’s an Electric Paint House Kit ($35) if you’d like some paper houses to turn into “an illuminated voltage village.” It would be an excellent tool for you (and your kids/nieces/nephews) to learn more about electronics, if you’re interested.

Rigby Media Console

What’s that price tag doing on such a modern media console? And it can be mounted directly on the wall without the base, thus bringing the price down to $999? Hmm, perhaps we need to consider where it could live in our own homes. I especially like the option of the wall mount version, as it could be hung at any height and do the job of an entryway console or dining area buffet.

Spring Watering Can

If you need a new watering can, how about a brightly colored polyethylene one with a rather organic (or cartoonish-in a good way) shape? Designed by Robert Bronwasser for Goods, the Spring Watering Can has an ergonomic shape with a slender spout and large opening for filling with a faucet or hose. Choose between blue, green, gray, yellow, or white.

Hay Ash Wood Wall Hook

As you might have guessed, this Ash Wood Wall Hook is made from a steamed strip of solid ash wood. The two upward ends provide a resting place for all manner of accessories while the curved bow allows for a gentle hold of sweaters and coats without the bothersome indentation you’d get from other small hooks. It’s a smart choice for an entryway or bedroom, or wherever else you need a tiny bit of extra clothes storage.

Clara von Zweigbergk Mirrors

Geometric mirrors that have a friendly price tag? Yes, please. Clara von Zweigbergk has designed a few perspex mirrors for Domestic, and the result is your face reflected on an affordable, decorative frame. Each mirror is around 18″ wide/diameter, and with the $100 price tag, I dare say you’ll be able to find one or two a spot in your home.

Bacsac Composter Bag

Composting isn’t the sexiest subject, but you might find yourself excited about this bag from French company Bacsac. At-home composting is easier now with the Composter Bag (available with 5.2 gallon or 10.5 gallon capacity) made from Bacsac’s signature geotextile fabric. Add all your vegetable and fruit peelings, dead leaves and flowers to the bag, zip it up and leave it alone. Use the handles on either side to flip the bag for mixing every couple of weeks, and once composting is complete, you’ll have fertilizer for your plants. Easier (and better looking) than a composting bin, isn’t it?

    Apparatus Lighting

Holy smokes. Apparatus is hitting exactly the right note with their modern-yet-timeworn lighting collection, and if you have a healthy budget, you’ll definitely want to consider one of their chandelier/pendants for one heck of a statement. Using a vintage sensibility, designer Gabriel Hendifar and partner Jeremy Anderson create fixtures using aged brass, hand-etched glass, leather, and porcelain to create these eclectic fixtures. A few pieces are below, but do check out their website for the full collection and variations on each design: Apparatus.

    Ichiro Iwasaki Cup Table

While this glass table might not be the best choice for a home with kids, it does have a certain appeal with its unexpected material. The colors are a nice change from the usual wood/black/white color options usually expected from the side table category, and, as an extra function, you can flip the table over and use it as a very large vase or as a storage vessel for pillows or blankets.

    Leather iPad Sleeve

Still searching for a respectable sleeve for your iPad? Don’t forget about the selection of full-grain leather sleeves from Defy Bags studio in Chicago. Measured and cut by hand, the sleeve’s joints are triple-stitched for added strength. It certainly ticks the ‘rugged sophistication’ box, if that’s the look you prefer.

So, this isn’t a scrapbook, it’s a Portfolio. A thick paper accordion is held between two pieces of solid oak with a large rubber band to hold it all together. Think of it as a cool way to showcase photos and/or drawings- perhaps from a vacation or special event (gift alert). When opened, the Portfolio stands on its own for display.

    Hollister Table

This Hollister Table is an affordable console option, and, correct me if I’m wrong, but it looks pretty good for the price. An iron base supports a natural wood top, and that’s about it. No frills, no fuss, just a table to fit in wherever you need an extra surface. Would it fit in your entryway as a landing pad for keys and mail? Maybe. Behind a sofa for displaying a few favorite objects? Certainly.

Nice! The Ringtool is a compact toolkit that lives on any standard keyring. Hardened stainless steel (strength + corrosion resistance) means it’ll withstand a rough and tumble world. It has five different Hexheads, a Flathead and Phillips Driver, a Torxhead, and two Spoke Wrenches, so it’s a good choice for any cyclist that would rather not lug around a bigger toolkit.
