Sans Calendar by Rationale

It’s the middle of May and you’re seeing a calendar. What’s up with that? Well, this calendar is worth buying, if only for half a year’s use, as dates are listed as two vertical columns with space for important notes. The vertical layout may be just a little more workable for your desktop area. If the minimal black, white, and red design looks familiar, that’s because it’s got the same sort of feel as Massimo Vignelli’s popular Stendig Calendar.

Flange Vessels

Ooo, these vessels are want-worthy. Maybe plant a few cacti for an impressive grouping, or use the bowls as a gathering spot for keys and mail. In any case, you’d do well to get a few, say, three or all five, so you can make a modern terra-cotta statement somewhere within your home. Or perhaps even on your patio?

Cube Cat House

Would your feline friend like a new place to curl up and rest? The Cube Cat House might just work well with your home’s interior, as it’s composed of a handwoven fiberglass cocoon nested inside a clean graphic frame. The cocoon acts as a bed and a scratching tool, so you’re already a step ahead on minimizing the kitty paraphernalia. Now, if someone would just figure out a better option for housing litter…

Slow Brew Iced Tea Maker

Slow brewed tea sounds slightly pretentious, I know, but this little guy makes it look super easy and worth a try. After all, summer is almost here, right? Apparently cold-brewed tea is less bitter and astringent, just like cold-brewed coffee. A double-walled, clear infuser lets you keep an eye on the color while also keeping the tea’s temperature stable. You can even try cold-brewing coffee in it, as the retailer notes.

Kaenjusai Watering Can

Will a pretty watering can make your houseplants happy? Probably, but it will be because you’re happy watering them with the Kaenjusai Watering Can by designer Keita Suzuki. See the matching angle of the handle and spout? That will give you a precise “point-and-pour control” to ensure less spillage. A walnut handle compliments the copper body.

Triangle Stacking Tables

How about a stack of side tables for your favorite room? These Triangle Stacking Tables are small enough (16″ x 14″ x 15″) that they can sit quietly together beside a sofa or chair. When you have friends and family over, simply unstack them for three handy spots to hold drinks and plates. Choose between Birch, Slate, or Marble tops. And, if you’re allergic to triangles, there’s the Rectangle Nesting Tables as well.

Picnic Tote Blanket

If you like picnics and have an extra $250 lying around, have I got the tote for you. Menu’s Picnic Tote Blanket starts off as a tote bag for your wine and snacks, but with a little unfolding, it becomes a soft blanket with a water-repellent layer underneath. Handy, huh? Take it to the park or beach this summer and relax in comfort.

Tea Kettle By NORM Architects

This tea kettle/pot by NORM Architects has a built in steeper that is secured to the top lid when brewing is finished, making the process tidy and efficient. Cactus Vases

Okay, ‘love’ would be an appropriate word to describe my feelings towards these Cactus Vases by Serax. Texture! Color! Shape! And, of course, they look like cacti. Get a bunch of them, please, and arrange them on shelves or tables until you are completely content. No need to fill them with flowers, but, if you want, get a bunch of pretty stems every once in a while just to remind yourself that they are, in fact, vases.

Mirrors by Alex Drew & No One

Mirror, mirror, on the wall… you’re different enough to hang in my home. The Hex Mirror by by Alex Drew & No One features a contrasting inside edge just to make it more special. They also offer the Simplex Mirror, which has a triangular mirror inside a rectangular frame, with a few lines thrown in to accentuate the point. The Simplex Hydrangea, perhaps my favorite, has the same design but with an antiqued, color-washed mirror. Oh, and to make things even better, you can work with the designer to change up the colors to suit your specific taste. Fun.

GrowOya Watering Vessel

Did you know that surface watering is inefficient? Plants do best when they get water right at their roots. That’s just where the GrowOya aims, as it’s a terracotta vessel that’s buried mostly underground. Fill it every few days and water will naturally seep into the soil so roots can take just the right amount. You’ll be saving water and time- score!

Sitting Pretty Case

I don’t know about you, but I’ve had a hard time finding a jewelry case for traveling. They’re either too bulky or lack the organization to keep earrings, rings, and necklaces secure. This case offers a slim size- it measures in at 6″ x 6″ x 1.5″- and has quite a few snaps, loops, and pockets that hold everything in place. No tangles and no scratches? Yes, please.
