Moss Sanctuary

Sure, Botanica offers smaller Moss Sanctuaries, but it’s the medium size that may fit your favorite plant best. With a marble base and polycarbonate top, it’s a nicer planter than you’ll find at any garden supply shop (correct me if I’m wrong). Their Sanctuary-S “mini-mossarium” is worth a look, as it easily fit on a desk and features a teardrop top to direct water back onto the foliage.

Catherine McDonald California Coast Tapestry

Okay, so maybe this is leaning a little too far into dorm room decor for some of us, but can you see the potential? It’s a really large print of the California coast on fabric. Maybe you hang it on the wall, or maybe you throw it over the back of an unsightly sofa until you get around to recovering it. You could even stretch it over a frame for a slicker art look. Know what I mean? Possibilities…

Lisboa Cork Stool

Short on seating? This guy is a smart buy that won’t break the bank. In comparison, just take a look at the Vitra Cork Stools, which I’ve always liked, priced at $490 each. And can we talk about how cork is such great material? It’s sustainable and it has a great texture that adds warmth and interest to any space.

Round Moon Phases Beach Towel

Did you see the eclipse yesterday? That event is the only reason why a round, fringed beach towel is featured today. You’ll most likely never see the likes of it again*; let’s hope that’s not the case of other notable astronomical events.

Offset Coffee Table and Stool

Fair warning, the price of this table may be too good to be true, as it’s the same price as the stool. Nevertheless, take a look at the three skewed, off-kilter legs; aren’t they fun? They’re just a bit off-center, which gives a playful feel to the heavy, solid form.

Daily, Weekly, Desk Notepads

Need a little help planning out your week? These little notepads might just do the trick, as they’re small enough to fit on your desk yet big enough to keep track of what’s happening when. Get the Weekly Keyboard Pad ($9) and the Daily Desk Pad ($14) for day/time keeping, and the Cylinder Keyboard Pad (12) and/or the Box Desk Pad ($18) for jotting down notes. Coordinate them all in your favorite shade or opt for a rainbow mix.

– “Resistance Dashboard is a visual advocacy platform that serves to bring focus to the fights ahead.”

– “No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” –Nelson Mandela, Long Walk to Freedom. Tweeted by Barack Obama in response to the Charlottesville events.

Platinum Scratch World Map

The Scratch Map has been around for a while (2011 was our first glimpse), but did you know there’s a Platinum version that might be a little easier to fit into your home’s color scheme? You know how it works- you simply scratch off the top layer to reveal the colorful map below. It’s a fun way to keep track of the different places you’ve been to around the world, or to plan out the places you’d like to go.

Cocentric Flush Dome

Prepare yourself, for this dome lighting fixture isn’t what most of us would call affordable. However, it is handcrafted on a lathe (take note of the perfect concentric grooves) and is available in several different American hardwoods. Plus, it can either be positioned on the wall or the ceiling, so you’re not locked in to just one location.

Terracotta Lantern

This lantern is strange, and that’s probably why we like it. The handmade terracotta lantern has a handle on its backside to make it easier to move around- perhaps to and fro your outdoor dining area and inside? It certainly won’t be mistaken for anything found at your local hardware store, as it has an odd-yet-friendly sculptural presence.

Clemens Auer Tweezers

Ordinary tweezers aren’t for you, or maybe they are until you see these odd tweezers by Clemens Auer. The circular solution was inspired by the pinching gesture, and is a unique alternative to those other typical grooming instruments. And, apparently, they are “functionally superior.” I believe it.

Custom Satellite Map Puzzle

Okay, this is kind of fun: it’s a puzzle featuring a satellite image of your home. You’ll get to see an area of 1 mile north-to-south and 1.5 miles east-to-west, and there’s a few irregular pieces thrown in to keep it special (the letters H-O-M-E, and a house-shaped piece right where your home is located). Maybe it’s a good thing to get to memorialize your current digs? It would also be an excellent housewarming gift.

Brace Wall Hook

Here’s a wall hook that does double duty: the looped brace gives you an extra spot to clip your keys or hang scarves or umbrellas. It’s also extremely kind to your clothes, as there’s no angular hook to create havoc in the neck area of shirts or jackets. The cast bronze shape is like a jewelry piece for your entryway; just enough subtle glitz to give a sense of specialness.

Press Iced Tea Bottle

Iced tea, anyone? Instead of steeping, straining, and then chilling, this Pressed Iced Tea Bottle gives you a “brew-and-go” experience. Add hot water to your tea in the outer chamber, let it steep, then press the ice-filled inner chamber down. Add the lid and you’re ready to go, with brewed iced tea in hand. Pretty handy if you’re very fond of your iced tea, huh?

The Jean Hanger

So smart. The Jean Hanger lets you say goodbye to folding creases and dryer woes, for it delicately holds your jeans up by their back belt loops. This allows your denim to hang appropriately alongside your other clothes without crumples or creases. Air dry them on the hanger, and you’ll have none of the shrinkage or wear that dryers often cause (plus less energy use!). Shall we say this hanger is a brilliant solution for those of us that love our jeans? Yes, I think we shall. Now available directly from Saldebus Designs*.
