Ready Stacking Barstool

Whoa, look at this new barstool. It’s stackable, made from powder-coated steel sled legs and a molded plywood seat. Not impressed? Oh, and it’s under $200. Compare that price tag with another favorite barstool and it’s a downright steal. Choose between black, grey green, or white.

Fundamental Lamp

Stripes! It evokes a certain Memphis Group flavor, don’t you think? And, yes, you could probably make something similar if you had the tools (so, go ahead, make one). If you know you’re too lazy, then this little lamp by Brendan Timmins will set you back $160. A small price to pay for a cheery, striped light with a pink cord, don’t you think? More designs and colors are on Brendan Timmins’ site; contact him directly for those options.

Pon+ Pin

Do you remember the harmless Pon Push Pin? The same folks have a new version (aptly named Pon+) that’s a bit bigger and has a smart pull tab. Pull the tab and slide your pictures/artwork underneath for easy display and no puncture wounds. The bigger size means it can hold larger loads as well.

Arch Floor Mirror

“What’s through there?” That’s what your friends will be saying until they smack their foreheads against this mirror (they’re not too bright, those friends of yours, poor things). Just think, your place will look like it gained another room at first glance, thanks to the elegant optical illusion of the arched design. Look closely and you’ll see several varying tints create a shaded effect; a small detail, yes, but quite effective. There’s the floor sized version (shown) as well as a smaller 32″ height that would work well on a console or credenza. And, if you want to go crazy, take a look at the Dune Mirror.

Mirtoon Automatic Hose Reel

Have you seen any decent garden hose storage options? If you have, please don’t keep it to yourself. If you haven’t, I may need to bite the bullet and buy the Mirtoon Automatic Hose Reel, as it doesn’t offend my very finicky design sensibilities. It’s wall mounted, can pivot 180 degrees, and automatically stops and retracts with a little tug. The spray gun has 5 settings and an adjustable nozzle. Sure, it could be a tiny bit more streamlined, but that’s being extremely picky considering the alternatives.

Koki Ice Cream Scoop

I scream, you scream, we all scream for… you know the rest. Make sure you have a decent scoop for your ice cream, because you don’t want it to melt while you wrestle your serving (plus others) out of the box or tub. The Koki’s handle is comfortable to hold and has a length suitable for all types of containers. It’s perfect for soft and creamy ice creams (homemade is best!).

Blanc 44110 Notebook by Metaphys

Running low on notebooks? Don’t let those ideas float away- jot them down in one of these notebooks by Metaphys. The Blanc Notebook’s pages are rounded to avoid snagging and bent corners while the semi-rigid cover protects the high-quality Japanese paper. Pages take ink beautifully and tear out easily. Did you notice the subtle gray dotted lines? They give you a graph if you need it; they’re light enough to ignore if you don’t.

Sass Pedestals

Why, yes, these pedestals are Sottsass-inspired, as you can tell by their circular, contrasting layers. Aren’t they just the thing to elevate certain things around your home? Perhaps you’ll place your hors d’oeuvres, your prized possessions, or, as suggested, your potted plants upon them, so that those items might shine slightly brighter for being seen.

Dotty Clock

Keep time with the Dotty Clock, designed by Abi Alice. You can probably see where sticky dots had something to do with the design, as the ends of the hands are clear to spot from across the room. If you’re a fan of Charles and Ray Eames, you may even see a little Dot Pattern fabric flavor when the hands cross just so… or even planetary orbit paths… or is that just me?

Clemens Auer Tweezers

Ordinary tweezers aren’t for you, or maybe they are until you see these odd tweezers by Clemens Auer. The circular solution was inspired by the pinching gesture, and is a unique alternative to those other typical grooming instruments. And, apparently, they are “functionally superior.” I believe it.

Palissade Collection by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec

All right, now, we’re in outdoor furniture shopping mode, thanks to the summer heat. If the Hot Mesh Lounge featured yesterday didn’t quite hit the spot, maybe you’ll like the Palissade Lounge Chair by Ronan + Erwan Bouroullec. Why? It’d be easier to ask why not, because then we could agree on your ignorance or lack of design sense* and then our conversation would be over.

To Go Cup

How many times have you fumbled around with your travel mug? And has it ever spilled? Or has its lid had a weird smell/taste/defect that made you dislike it immensely, yet you’ve not found something better to replace it with? If none of this sounds familiar, lucky you. All the rest of us flip you off will pay attention to Eva Solo’s thermal To Go Cup. The double walls keep temperature control in check while a click-open lid simplifies one-handed use. The silicone strap will make carrying a hell of a lot easier. No snagged fingers or juggling- you’ll just slip it around your wrist or hang it on your bag when you’ve got an armful.

Hot Mesh Lounge Chair

Ooo, the Hot Mesh collection just got a new sibling: a lounge chair. You know what’s great about that? It not only looks modern and unfussy, it’s very affordable. I mean, come on, $299 for a cool lounge chair? It’s a no-brainer. Oh, and it’s stackable and suitable for indoor or outdoor use. If we had a little celebratory ‘great deal!’ ribbon jpg to add to certain images, I’d add it without a second thought.
