Have you seen the collaboration between LAND (League Artists Natural Design) and Blu Dot? LAND teaches life skills through art to adult artists with developmental disabilities, and I’ve got hearts for eyes (emoticon-style) on every single thing. All profits go directly to the artists and gallery, so, go for it: purchase with abandon. You’ll feel warm and fuzzy each time you stand on/sit on/pass by the item you choose.

If these pieces by Dino Sanchez remind you a teensy bit of childhood, you’ve picked up on the inspiration of elementary school desks. Note the small detail of wood peg joins, rounded corners and slightly chunky proportions. Endearing, aren’t they? And, if you’re prone to collecting, you’ll be happy to know that each bench and stool is marked as a numbered edition.

Take a look at this stacking barstool. It’s made from powder-coated steel sled legs and a molded plywood seat and is oh-so-minimal. Not impressed? Oh, and it’s under $200. Compare that price tag with another favorite barstool and it’s a downright steal. Choose between black, breezy blue, grey green, navy, oxblood, or white.

Did you know that the OGK Daybed was designed back in 1962? Ole Gjerløv-Knudsen created it for his son for their camping trips. It’s entirely portable and arrives in a linen bag with shoulder strap. No screws or tools are needed for assembly; you fit the parts together and twist the sisal ropes for tension and structure. Could it be your next favorite napping spot or impromptu guest bed? Yes and yes. Could you take it outside when the weather is nice? Of course!

Iskos-Berlin’s Soft Edge Stool for HAY may look like a simple seating option, and it is, but you’d do well to notice the ultra-thin, soft-formed seat, and how its edges bend away from the body to optimize comfort. The skinny steel legs are functional, yet they add to the stool’s sense of lightness. Might it be a good place to perch, tucked beneath a small writing desk, or arranged around a meeting table? It’s also stackable, which is a definite plus when floor space is tight.

Well, hello there, ST-002W. You sure look comfortable, with your nicely curved steel seat and footrest. Designed for the hospitality industry, you’re made to withstand all kinds of knocks and tumbles, yet you have clean, sharp lines that look more suitable in a customized, high-end home. Maybe you should come live with us, along with two of your siblings, at our kitchen counter. Yes? Agreed.

Do I really need to explain how this bench is worth every cent of its price tag? Seating + Books = (!). It has an angled shelf for books (why, yes, I am nerding out a little bit over that detail). That will give you a perfect place to keep your favorites, tucked away under a handy seating surface.

How’s this for a stackable stool/side table? It’s got a pretty friendly price and features an oval-shaped seat on a sturdy powder-coated metal frame. That and the colors will have you considering just how many you may want to add to your own abode.

Wait, now, are we seeing a folding chair that looks cool? That might seem like the wrong word, but look, it’s true. Clean lines and a minimal treatment makes this folding chair just right for modernists. Too bad that it’ll take several more hundred-dollar bills to get one of these rather than the standard metal chairs, but we’re used to that sort of pricing by now (right?).

This sofa looks like a pretty perfect place for a long nap, don’t you think? Sort of like sweatpants for your living room, it’ll keep you comfortable while signaling you give approximately zero forks what other people think of you. Just kidding, this sofa isn’t nearly that bad… but it does look that comfortable.

Maybe you can go chop down a tree, take off all the bark, then paint it and add a sturdy woven cotton handle, but some of us have other things to do. Plus, when these stools are less than $100 and made from sustainably harvested oak, it’s awfully hard to resist such affordable seats.

Short on seating? This guy is a smart buy that won’t break the bank. In comparison, just take a look at the Vitra Cork Stools, which I’ve always liked, priced at $490 each. And can we talk about how cork is such great material? It’s sustainable and it has a great texture that adds warmth and interest to any space.

This three-legged stool is comfortable in its nudity. Solid construction with tenon joints, shapely legs, and a slightly beveled top combine to make it easy on the eyes; it’d be a shame for it to hide any of its parts behind paint.
