Knitted Yoga Ball

How about a little crazy thrown into your modern mix? There’s a theory floating around that adding a little strangeness or ‘ugly’ to an interior makes it more interesting. Agree or disagree? Either way, this Knitted Yoga Ball is not a typical choice. At its core is a functional yoga ball, so you could use it for your stretch routines or as an extra seating option or footrest. Created by Texas artist Magda Sayeg (Knitta) and Australian design comapny Page Thirty Three, each knitted sleeve is made from upcycled rugs and throws.

milk stools by alissia melka-teichroew

You might know Alissia Melka-Teichroew for her acrylic rings or the Inside Out glassware from a while ago, and now you can add this off-kilter stool to her list of successes. Would you have guessed she was inspired by crooked slats in a picket fence? By combining the asymmetry of the fence with the irregularity of the old-fashioned one-legged milk stool, she arrived at this sturdy and expressive design.

Krone Hanssen Wood Stubbe Poufs

Why would you want big chunks of wood in your home? Who knows, maybe you’re a bit crazy. Spin Stool, Colors

Simon posted the stackable Spin Stool by Swedese back in May, and now that it’s available in a handful of fresh and lovely colors it’d be a shame not to shine a light on them again. Made from laminated ash veneer, the Spin Stool now comes in grey, yellow, pink, orange, and blue.

Ru Chair

This chair isn’t new, in fact, it’s been around for a couple of years, but for some reason we’ve missed featuring it. Designed by Shane Schneck for Hay, this chair has a cantilever design that allows for easy stacking. Perhaps more impressively, the lack of two front legs means the seat of the chair can be suspended on a table for easy floor cleaning (see image at designboom). A cross lamination layering pattern gives the Ru Chair “exceptional” strength.

Poet Stool

This Poet Stool by Misewell might be a tad expensive, but goodness, once you take a look at the construction, you begin to understand why. The three legs are connected to the seat by mortise and tenon joints, which, if you’re not aware, is both a simple and strong joint that needs to be cut exactly to specification. Steel connects each leg, further strengthening the structure and providing a perfect ledge to rest your feet. Handmade and assembled in Milwaukee.

Recycled Pouf

Random fabric remnants might not fit in perfectly with your color scheme, but nevertheless, this little pouf should get a ribbon for recycling fabric. Maybe you’ll prefer the solid graphite or red color options (or even the soft wool version, $299), but if you don’t mind a bit of everything, go for it.

$450 for a barstool might just be a little above your budget, but, even so, let’s just spend a moment admiring this barstool designed by Mathieu Matégot . Who’s he? Apparently, he’s the guy that first combined metal tubing with with perforated sheet metal. Thank you Mr. Matégot.

Copper Real Good Chair

Hello, hello. Blu Dot’s Real Good Chair ($139) is now available in a copper plated finish. There’s been a recent popularity of copper accents in the home, and if you’re going to jump on that boat, you might as well be brave about it and get a chair or two (or six). As you probably know, copper patinas naturally, so expect an aged look after you’ve had the chair(s) for a while.

Guess what my favorite barstool is lately? This guy, of course. “The Howard” is an all-weather, stackable barstool available in 3 heights and 9 different colors.
