Little Architect Set

Fun! The Little Architect Set* is a set of blocks to build and measure with. Inspired by an architect’s drafting kit, the building blocks include a triangle, protractor and ruler with units in metric and imperial. They snap together with hidden magnets, so you’ll be able to mix and match to your heart’s content. Be sure to share with others (young and old alike).

EM77 Vacuum Jug

Lukewarm coffee is just not acceptable, and this EM77 Vacuum Jug will ensure hot coffee stays hot. When tipped, the rocker stopper automatically opens to let coffee flow out- this limits the amount air entering the jug, thus preventing your coffee from cooling prematurely. You can use the EM77 Vacuum Jug to keep beverages cold as well, so don’t put it in the back of the cupboard when spring comes around.

Revolver Stool

There’s no telling how much fun you’ll have with a spinning barstool, but enjoyment aside, there’s a practicality in having a stool rotate a complete 360 degrees: ease of use. The Revolver Stool designed by Leon Ransmeier for HAY has circular seat, upper leg portion and footrest that spins completely around, giving you a comfortable and sensible seating option that fits in nicely with many a modern interior.

Squeeze In Orange Squeezer

We could play the whole ‘what-is-it’ game, but you probably possess enough deductive reasoning to guess the function of at least the top part of this set. That’s right, it’s an orange squeezer. Don’t go thinking it’s palm-sized, though, it’s approximately 9″ tall, so it will handle all manner of freakishly large citrus. The dark oak wood juicer sits snugly into the ceramic vase when not in use. Bonus: it’s on sale (reg.$89).

Prisma Mirror

What the what. Take a look at this mirror with its crazy geometric wire frame extending outwards, and tell me that it’s not a steal for a hundred smackers. Hang it vertically, hang it horizontally, and admire the sight of geometric lines reflecting right back at you. Feel free to hang a few things from the frame (jewelry, accessories?) if it suits. Notice the similarity to the Prisma Jewelry Organizer? Yep, same designer.

J1 Studio’s C.Lamp

$158? Is that right? J1 Studio’s C.Lamp is made from lightweight polypropylene and utilizes a folding technique to avoid a metal frame, thus reducing the cost associated with manufacturing. Wooden tripod legs complete the simple lamp, giving a minimal, natural look to any room that needs an extra light source. Designed by Jae Won Cho of J1 Studio, where you may also purchase the lamp directly.

Party Hat

Come on, now, remember when party hats were standard birthday party fair? Why let kids have such special ceremonial attire when we adults deserve just as much- if not more- frivolity for certain events? LA designer Albert Chu (of OTAAT) creates these leather Party Hats just for those festive times, whether it be a birthday or other significant life event. Keep one in the office or at home to use again and again, and make sure certain moments are celebrated appropriately.

.ORG Deskscape System

Now, don’t have an apoplectic fit when you see the price tag- it’s not per piece, rather it’s for the whole .ORG Deskscape System from L & G Studio (a.k.a. Ladies & Gentlemen Studio) in collaboration with Pat Kim. Four modules can be combined in different ways to suit your needs: there’s a mail organizer with adjustable metal dividers, a zig zag catch all tray, a cork block for pinning messages and cards, and the double container for smaller items you see above. Take a look and tell me if you’re not tempted to organize your desktop immediately afterwards.

Prisma Jewelry Organizer

Hmm, if you (or someone you know) prefers to have their favorite baubles out on display rather than tucked away in a box, this Prisma Organizer may just be the thing to keep things tidy(ish). Hang earrings from the double bar, or drape chain bracelets/necklaces across the square frame. Larger pieces can take pride of place at the organizer’s base. And, when free from any jewelry, it simply looks like a geometric sculpture on a shelf or tabletop.

Nomad Carafe

This stainless steel carafe hits all the right notes with its minimalist cork stopper and four nesting cups. Valentine’s Day Stuff

If you absolutely have to participate in the overblown holiday that is Valentine’s Day, you have my sympathy. To provide you with support, here are a few things that are a design aficionado’s equivalent to a fluffy teddy bear and a shiny-red-heart-shaped mylar balloon, and are therefore entirely acceptable to give to someone you care about. A sappy/sentimental card is optional.

Brooklyn Desk

The Brooklyn Desk has clever little storage boxes that slip over its edge, which means the boxes can be arranged to suit the user’s preferences exactly. Now, do keep in mind it is a smaller worktop, so it’s ideal for smaller people (and smaller spaces), and would be especially suitable for a growing child, as the desk height is adjustable (up to adult height). Perhaps with enough interest, Oeuf will make a larger version? One can hope.

Hidden Channel Wall Coat Rack

A hidden top channel behind the brass-finished iron pegs makes this coat rack special. Keep mail, notes, and reminders propped up right where you put on (and take off) your coat/jacket, and chances are you’ll be less likely to ignore them. This looks a lot like the Muir Wall Coat Rack from Amenity (just flipped around), doesn’t it?

Wings Lamps by Haim Evgi Design Studio

While these lamps are inspired by different bird wings, some of us may tend towards a stronger zoomorphic interpretation, for the lamp can appear to stand like a bird, with the solid oak shade as its head. A thin iron leg and base gives the lamp a perched stance, which takes up minimal room on a desktop or tight floor plan.
