EcoQue’s Portable Grill

Happy Labor Day! What are you doing on the computer?! Get outside and enjoy these last moments of summer. Posts will return as usual tomorrow.

Shown above: EcoQue’s Portable Grill

EcoQue’s Portable Grill is an energy efficient, collapsible grill. It consumes 75% less fuel than other similar-sized grill thanks to its specific placement of charcoal briquettes. When you’re done, it folds up to just about an inch thick. See more info at A+R Store.

Cuissential SlickBoil

‘Cuissential Slickboil’ sounds more like a skin ailment than a tea kettle, but let’s forget that for the moment. It’s a collapsible, silicone tea kettle. Presumably this would be handy in a camping situation, but I’m more impressed with the fact that it looks good enough to keep around a small kitchen. Of course, wherever you use it, be careful that the flame doesn’t exceed the stainless steel base, or you’ll have a slightly melted mess.

Bicycle by Ugo Gattoni

Bicycle is a intricate and detailed drawing from artist Ugo Gattoni. The 8×13″ book is unassuming at first, but unfolding its ten panels reveals a London bicycle race featuring elite athletes, cycle couriers, commuters, bankers, delivery boys, mums with kids, youths on stolen mountain bikes, fashionistas, hipsters, a giant pig, and much, much more. Bicycle is both a book and frameable print. To really appreciate the dedication and talents of Ugo, be sure to check out this making-of video.

Table-top Paper holder with Cutter

If you’ve ever used large paper rolls, either for your own art/design use or because you are around kids, you know that they can be a little annoying to use. This tabletop wooden paper cutter holds the roll in place and allows for a neat, straight tear, making everyone’s life just a little easier. There’s also the IKEA MÅLA Tabletop paper holder option for $6.99, and, of course, more robust (and slightly more expensive) steel options available through school supply outlets or Amazon. Or, if you’re handy, you could make a DIY version like this one by Ana White.

United States Chalkboard Map

Oh, the various situations where this map would be useful. One: to test your guest’s knowledge of states (Where is Arkansas!) and then get depressed at how little they know. Two: to mark the states you should never ever visit due to their political atmosphere. Three: to plan your escape should your family encounter imminent danger, though that would be foolish considering interstate highways aren’t drawn in. Four: to practice memorization of interstate highways so you know how to escape should your family encounter imminent danger. Etc. I’m sure you’ll think of many more.

Magisso Bamboo Cutting Board

This cutting board has a Z shape to provide two useful functions. The front ridge rests against the edge of the counter to keep the board from sliding forward. The back keeps your knife in place while cutting and may also be used to funnel your chopped veggies into a bowl or pan. And, if that’s not enough for you, that same Z shape allows the board to stand upright as well; that little detail should not to be underestimated if your kitchen lacks storage space. If you still refuse to get excited about a cutting board, there’s a video below for visual stimulation.

Fin Table Light

Goodness. Who knew the inner workings of a lamp could look as good as this? Nice job yet again, Mr. Dixon. An ode to engineering, the Fin Light exposes the components usually hidden from view. What you’d think was merely a design feature is its heat sink (which if you have no idea what that is, here’s a link to images of lamp heat sinks). That and the giant acrylic lens and 6 LEDs result in a design that is self-contained yet visually exposed.

The plastic filter sits inside the double walled glass, allowing your leaves to brew without escaping into the cup.
