General Series by Good Thing NY

Don’t assign any piece of the General Series by Good Thing NY to just one function, as they’re meant to fulfill myriad needs around the home or office. A hard timber handle makes it easy to carry each bucket, bowl, or tray from one place to another, and the spun aluminum base/container should withstand a fair amount of wear and tear. Use them in the kitchen for serving food stuffs, in the office for corralling supplies, or in a living area or bedroom to catch various bits and bobs that need a home.

Ferm Living Plant Box

Ferm Living’s new Plant Box comes in such a nice array of colors- ochre, gray, black, and blue- that you’ll most likely be tempted to use them more for just plants. Books, perhaps? Some of those toys that your kids won’t put away? Or maybe a catchall in the entryway for bags and mail and such? Now, what color would be best… my pick would be the blue, I think.

Hay & Scholten & Baijings’ Crystal Carafe

Yes, we have featured Scholten & Baijings’ Colour Crystal Stemware before. Well done for paying attention. However, not much fuss was made over the Crystal Carafes, which is understandable as they have a very subtle touch of color.

Choose the carafe with gradient blue or yellow descending from its top edge, or pick the carafe with gold pooling at its base. Pair a couple of Colour Glass Tumblers along with the carafe for an impressive serving set; water (or cocktails) will look oh-so-elegant.

Luminoodle

Who doesn’t want a 5-foot strand of ultra-bright, waterproof, and USB-powered LEDs? You could hang one or two strands up in the trees for late night dining, take one with you camping (use the bag as a lantern), or tie or hook one around whatever is handy whenever you need light. Watch the Kickstarter video below for more ideas, and see if you aren’t tempted to get one for your future outside-exploring self.

Mika Barr Textiles

Origami textiles? Yes, indeed. We might have featured Mika Barr’s work previously, but right now our search isn’t working (sorry, we’re tweaking the site), so forgive the repeat if we have shown off her throws and pillows before. The throws are especially eye-catching, as the printed fabric shows off its faceted nature best when casually draped across a sofa or chair. Can you believe they’re machine washable? Pretty impressive.

House Trivets

This wooden trivet folds into a small, architectural “objet d’art.” That in itself is pretty cute, but it also means that it’d be easy to tuck away in a drawer or on a shelf when not in use. There’s a leather loop for hanging as well. Note: this would make a great housewarming gift for a friend or coworker.

What is it?

And, now, it’s time for another guess at the game of ‘What is it?’ You see an item made from cast iron, so it’s pretty heavy. It’s in the shape of a scoop, so that adds a little more mystery… what could it be? Answer below.

Tropical Walnut Abner Tool Box

This is the nicest toolbox ever. You certainly wouldn’t want to hide it away on dusty shelf in the garage, so think beyond just nails and hammers. Maybe it could keep sewing supplies organized, or your jewelry collection tucked away safe and sound. Made with Nogal wood (a.k.a. Tropical Walnut), each toolbox is made by skilled Nicaraguan craftsmen and features comb joints and an interior tray for smaller items. The tray and lid slot easily through the handle for a clean, streamlined look. On a personal note, I’ve had my eye on this Toolbox for a year now, and recently I was able to see it in person; it’s beautiful and well worth the price point.

Mobile Light by Andrew Neyer

If you have a dark living or dining area, may I suggest the Mobile Light by Andrew Neyer? The no-frills, minimal design provides a clean look that would work well with other styles, so it’s a very safe bet for all sorts of interiors.
