Hmm, maybe these are a direct attempt at copying the Coatrack Dots, or maybe it’s just a coincidence. Either way, $10 for a set of 3 coat hooks isn’t too bad of a deal, even if they are just flat, wooden disks without the rounded, smooth edges of the higher-end alternative. However, do be sure to consider the one review so you know what you’re getting.

These cooking/serving tools designed by Danish design firm KiBiSi have notches on the back so that they may gently rest on a pot or pan while you work. Made from white beech, they’re functionally minimal (or minimally functional?) as can only be expected from the manufacturer, Muuto.

Okay, let’s make a deal. We won’t hate this door hook organizer thing if we all agree to put it only where it’s absolutely necessary. That will be discretionary, of course, but I think we can all trust each other to use it to organize and de-clutter those spots that are magnets to miscellany- hall closets, laundry rooms, kid’s rooms (better in a kid’s closet), some bathrooms, etc. Each strap has 6 height-adjustable hooks that hold up up to 1kg (2.2 lb) on each hook.

You know there are classier ways to send out a ‘save the date’ request than through email, right? And I’m talking about actual cards, those paper invites that the post office may still bring to our doors, if we’re lucky. Each card in this set is designed like a ticket, giving adequate space to note the date and event. Envelopes aren’t included, but that just means you can pick your own color scheme. Maybe liven things up a bit with a bright color?

The Pablo Tube Top lamps have been around for years- before 2007 at least – but this pendant takes the stretcher idea to new heights (so to speak). While the 36″ wide version, shown above, is perfectly proportioned for a rectangular dining area, the smaller 7″ or 14″ could work quite well above a bar or as a pendant above a bedside table.

Come on, you knew there would be yet another tea kettle sometime soon. It’s sort of a favorite subject around here. Bend has truly excellent seating options in a few lucky shades of pop-out color, so it should be no surprise that they add this extra special spherical pendant to their collection. At 18″ x 22″, it’s the right sort of size for a mid-sized dining area, and the gridded galvanized iron does no harm in casting patterns across a wall. Available in white or fluorescent green/yellow.

I’ve attempted to grow new plants from cuttings and I’ve been successful about 30% of the time, mostly because I forget to keep the cuttings watered appropriately and also because I keep sticking them in nice little glass jars that let in too much light. Here’s betting that this rootcup will increase my odds significantly. The elastomer pot and lid protects a cutting’s roots from light, holds the leaves above the water to prevent rotting, and captures water to reduce attention needed. Those three things will have us propagating all sorts of cuttings like a pro.

This certainly isn’t the only puzzle that features a major city, but it is one of the few that looks like it came from somewhere other than the dollar store. Maybe you don’t want to spend $20 on a puzzle, but consider the fact that putting together pieces of a city might just etch that city into your brain, making it easier to get around whether you live there or if/when you plan a visit. Also, in my experience, puzzles are always surprisingly nice to have at family gatherings, giving hands something to do while conversation comes and goes.

Now, don’t go thinking silhouettes on mugs are only for parents. We all know you have enough imagination to think of some pretty good options for silhouettes for friends and family (a dance move? pets? inappropriate hand gestures? etc.) and there’s no reason to not immortalize said silhouette on a mug. It’s the perfect gift that’ll seem uninspiring until they see the custom image- then it’ll be awesome. (‘oh, it’s a mug…how nice…OH-MY-GOD-it’s-a-mug-with-so-and-so-doing-the-ROBOT! HAhaha!’ etc.)
