Dearborn Glassware

What says ‘grown-up glassware’ more than the $70 per piece price tag of the Dearborn Glassware? Maybe the intricate, fluted Borosilicate glass, or the knowledge that each piece was expertly created by master glassblowers in the Czech Republic. Borosilicate glass, if you didn’t know, gives thermal resistance, which translates into a durability appropriate for daily use- it’s safe to use in ovens, microwaves, and dishwashers- and that gives us all a little more understanding to the collection’s value (and, ultimately, the aforementioned price tag).

Pivot Koostik Passive Amplifier

I know, I know, a block of wood with some strange carvings won’t make much sense until you pair the title with the picture. It’s the Pivot Koostik Passive Amplifier, and it does just what it says- it passively amplifies sound on your iPhone. Two channels allow you to set your phone in either landscape or portrait mode, and you can customize the face. Might be a fun gift to give, right?

EM Press Coffee Maker

Did you know Erik Magnussen’s Stelton Vacuum Jug was designed way back in 1977? Or that the very recognizable shape is now available as a coffee press? Brew your coffee and keep it hot for hours, all in the retro-cool iconic thermos. The EM Press brews up to 8 cups, and has the same simple open-close mechanism of the Stelton Jug.

Adam Stool

If you’re fond of minimalistic furniture, chances are you’ll have the hots for the Adam Stool from Frama. Its skinny steel base almost disappears, and its flat, rectangular seat has only a convenient handle to break its plane. Want it to be a little more luxurious than the standard oak seat? There’s a leather topped version just for you.

Fancy Shredder

Have a great Labor Day weekend! We’ll return with semi-regular posts on Tuesday.

2017 Phases of the Moon Calendar

A 2017 Phases of the Moon Calendar is just what you need, because how else will you know when you’ll turn into a werewolf*? You’ll be able to schedule meetings and other events around your “personal business”, thereby conveniently keeping your crazier self free to roam without getting a reprimand from someone saying they were supposed to meet you for dinner and where were you? You’ll remain mysterious, and all your coworkers will marvel at your lunar knowledge. 2017 is going to be your best year yet, isn’t it?

Hoop Umbrella Stand

When it’s raining out, you’ll need a spot to rest your wet umbrella. Sure, you could lean it up against a wall to let it drip down on the floor, possibly creating a safety hazard where someone could slip and fall, hurting their pride and also possibly breaking a few bones, or you could do the sensible thing and get an umbrella stand. The Hoop has a heavy and compact cast-iron base with a slender oval wire rim suspended above; it’s both minimal and functional. The pink color is my favorite, but if you want to stick to the tried and true black option no one will fault you.

Shakers by Reed Wilson Design

If your salt and pepper situation is very sad, maybe you need to get better receptacles. Reed Wilson offers these faceted walnut shakers with rubber stoppers, and I dare say they’d be a pleasure to use. Each shaker is shaped by hand, so no two will be exactly alike.

Belle-V Ice Cream Scoop

You know what will make your life better? The best ice cream scoop ever. The Bell-V is made of hand-finished and polished Teflon coated aluminum. It’s ergonomically comfortable. It’s black. I don’t know what more information you need, because that’s enough to convince me and I don’t even eat ice cream.

Antipode Pendant Light

Let’s run through the very short list of requirements for a pendant light. Minimal/modern? Check. Spectacular/different? Check. Somewhat affordable? Check. The Antipode Pendant Light from Lambert & Fils fits those three requirements, and now we just need to figure out just where we’re going to put it. Maybe the dining room, entryway, or a large walk-in closet?

Purchase Information:

Price: $500.00
Available from: Lambert & Fils

Outline Tool

An entirely new measuring tool that combines three in one is just the thing to reduce desktop disarray. Matching silhouettes of traditional rulers is how Tomas Kral created Outline, and it’ll last well past your drawing days as it’s made from stainless steel with laser engraving. The Outline’s form includes a protractor and right angle with measurements in both inches and centimeters.

Purchase Information:

Price: $85.00
Available from: Field

Coleman Height-Adjustable End Table

If the Coleman Stool and the Coleman Camp Stool are to your liking, chances are that you’ll want to own the End Table. It features the same geometric base and adjusts from 22 to 28 inches in height, which makes it a cross between an end table, stool, and even a low bar stool. Spin the tabletop clockwise or counterclockwise to raise or lower it to the right height.

Purchase Information:

Price: $599.00
Available from: Dwell

Round Walnut and Solid Brass Wall Hooks

Cooler weather will soon be here, so it’s time to assess your entryway. Do you have enough hooks for hanging up all those scarves, hats and coats? Go the minimal route with these Round Walnut Wall Hooks or the Solid Brass Square Wall Hooks. Both sets are by the designer Farrah Sit and may be purchased through her website, Light and Ladder, or from Kaufmann Mercantile.
