Reso Armchair, Set of 2

If you’re very fond of the Bend Farmhouse, Bunny Lounge, or the Bertoia Side Chair, but find their price tags just a tad too high, you should add in the Reso as an alternative. The Reso Armchair is made of powder-coated steel that form a fanned back and straight seat slats. It may not have the same recognition of the previously mentioned chairs, but it is sold in sets of two, so split the $395 or $495 in half when considering the impact on your wallet. Pick from yellow, dark green, charcoal, or white.

    Triangulum Fire Pit

Fair warning, this fire pit isn’t cheap. However, for certain fans of geometry and aesthetics, it could fit the bill just fine. Made of a durable composite concrete, the Triangulum Fire Pit elevates the fire off the ground 10″, giving much needed oxygen to the fire without disrupting a conversational area. The vertical slots also allow water drainage, making this fire pit an elegant option for the cooler nights of the year.

    Trusco Deluxe Tool Box

Who wants a big, blue tool box designed smack dab (or close enough) in the middle of the 20th century? I certainly do. Talk about a robust sort of toolbox, the Trusco Deluxe is made from stamped-steel with a bold blue enameled finish. That beats the pants off any plastic toolbox you’re bound to find at any hardware store. Open it in one smooth motion to find several spots for organizing your tools and/or art supplies; the dividers are removable so adjust them to fit your needs.

    Lytro Light Field Camera

Remember the Lytro? This little camera is pretty special; you can focus each picture after you take it. The Lytro Light Field Camera (a.k.a. the first generation) captures the entire light field, allowing you to pick foreground/middle/background, whichever you prefer, by simply clicking on the area you want to focus on. Take a look at their living pictures to get the idea. Now priced at $199-$249. (Also, if you’re more serious about your photography, you’ll want to take a look at the Lytro Illum).

    Brick Wall/Desk Clock Copper

A flip clock will never lose its charm, probably because of its analog appeal. There’s something nice about hearing a soft click or flutter as a minute passes, and it’s a welcome alternative to all of those digital screens surround us. This Brick Flip Clock has a beefier case of copper, welded and brushed by hand, so it’ll add a sleek vibe to your home or office. Hang it on the wall or leave it out on a desk or tabletop.

    Wired Alphabet Square Blanket

I bet there’s a depressing amount of bad baby blankets out there. So many that it’s best not to look, I think. So, it’s up to you: make sure that newborn babe of yours/your friend/your relative develops their eyesight on this highly approved Wired Alphabet Square Blanket. It’s made of 100% GOTS-certified four-ply organic cotton muslin, and it’s reversible with the alphabet printed on both sides. The very lucky recipient may use the blanket as a stroller or nursing cover or even a soft play blanket.

    Equilateral Nails

No, these aren’t earrings, they’re nails. Why would we need decorative nails? Why do we need decorative anything? Maybe ‘need’ is the wrong word. The purists among us might scoff at beautifying the humble nail, but, for jewelry or other small trinkets or photos, the triangle head and post (made of hand cast bronze) does justice to our finer, special things.

    SNAP Modular Kayak

A modular kayak sounds like a recipe for disaster, but a quick search through some reviews reveals there are some definite pros to the obvious cons. Let’s go through the pros. It’s modular. Change it from one person to two to three to four, all by adding in an extra piece in the middle with its simple and fast SNAP-Tap system. This modularity allows for easier transport and storage, meaning you won’t need a big SUV or a big house. Take the smaller version, for instance: take it apart, put it in the backseat of your and store it under the bed when you get home. It’s also not too terribly expensive.

    Alex Prager Crowd #10 Puzzle

Now you know what to get me for my next birthday present. Or, if you know someone else that appreciates modern photography, there’s a good chance they’ll like this Alex Prager Crowd #10 Puzzle. Alex Prager, if you’re not familiar with the name, is a self-taught artist who uses staged sets and models to create melodramatic, “film-like images”. Her prints on artnet have ‘price on request’ notations, and you’d be safe to assume that they’d cost hundreds of times more than a $75 puzzle.

    Norm 69 Lamp

Let’s do a little comparison to put the price of this Norm 69 Lamp into perspective. The 69-part lamp was inspired by the intricate exterior of the pinecone, and was originally designed in 1969 by Simon Karkov. It takes a little while to assemble, but you won’t need tools or any adhesives. You’ll also need to find a socket and cord, but that shouldn’t be any problem in this day and age. The price? $130.

    Profil Aluminum Wall Shelf

If you’re in need of an affordable sort of steel ledge, you’d do well to check out CB2’s Bent Metal Wall Shelf, $199. It will hold your sundries and art objects just fine. However, if you’re after a longer, leaner look, you might want to consider digging into your wallet a bit more for the Profil Aluminum Wall Shelf by Jörg Schellmann. Made of extruded aluminum with a powder coat paint finish, each shelf may be used upside down to create a sculptural top to another unit or combined end to end for larger display. Side panels are also an option.
