Flash Rectangular, Square, and Round Tables

Good news, there’s a Tom Dixon Design Sale now through October 15. That means savings on all sorts of wonderful things, like the Flash Rectangular Table, Flash Square Table, and the Flash Round Table you see above. Created in the same spirit as Dixon’s Mirror Ball, these tables combine a mirrored bronze top and a brass plated steel base to make a strong metallic statement. Don’t forget about the Beat Lights (so popular nowadays), the Slab Chair, or any of Dixon’s accessories– all are 15% off.

Japanese Aged Brass Knife Block

This is an expensive knife block. My twenty-some-odd-old self probably would have not posted it back in the day because of the price, but my firmly-in-my-thirties self has a bit more disposable income. I hope you do too, of course, because then we could convince each other that we could afford to spend this much on a block, especially if we plan to have it for decades. Aged brass and a detachable cherry wood five-slot top will certainly last that long, and more, if cared for appropriately.

Hideaway Trash Bin

The humble field of trash bin design is unexciting to say the least; there’s just not much going on in the way of improvements. Muuto adds another un-fancy option to the mix. It’s just a simple bin with a lid, yet with a few extra noteworthy details. The exterior is streamlined, so it could just as easily live in your closet as a laundry basket- that gets points for versatility in the aesthetic department, don’t you think? When the lid is on, an interior trash bag is hidden by the lid’s lip. When the lid is off, it can hang on the side of the bin for easy access and safekeeping.

Kuu Lamp

So, here’s something sort of exciting: there’s a new online store that aims to provide high-end modern design at affordable prices. How’s that going to happen? Original design, true craftsmanship, and working directly with factories around the world, apparently. Will it work? Let’s hope so. Hem just opened for preorders, and I’ve got my eye on this Kuu Lamp ($149-$225). There’s no doubt you’ll be seeing more of the collection within the next several weeks, so prepare your house for some new additions (and your bank account for a few subtractions).

Magnet 6

These knob-like wooden things are magnets. Or, rather, these knob-like wooden things have magnets embedded within their rounded ends, to be precise. I bet you an imaginary nickel that these set of 6 magnets would look much nicer than any plastic magnets you’ve got hanging around, and I’d probably be right, unless you have some really cool plastic magnets that I don’t know about. Unlikely, but entirely possible.

Hanging Ring Perpetual Calendar

If you like the idea of a perpetual calendar, then add this Hanging Ring Calendar to your list of considerations. Change the date by rotating the rings and visually experience the cyclical nature of our calendar system. It would be an interesting accent on a wall in an office, living area, or even a kid’s room (if the child was old enough not to attempt to use the rings as frisbees).

Bookman Clip-On Reflectors

What are you looking at? Reflectors. Why should you care? Because it’s the end of September, and, in North America, that means it’s getting darker earlier in the evening, and you’re hard to see when you’re out running, biking, or walking your dog. These reflectors from Bookman are sort of special because they clip on with a magnet. Add one or two on in a snap- to your jacket, to your dog’s leash, to your bike, you name it. That makes it super easy to remain visible to other people (and those people in vehicles) when you’re out and about no matter what you’re wearing.

Mark’s Notebook Calendars

Okay, don’t freak out, it’s just a calendar for 2015. You still have three whole months left until the new year rolls around, which is plenty of time to get your ducks in a row, so to speak. This past year I’ve kept my months organized by using one of Mark’s Notebook Calendars, and I’ll probably repeat the habit next year. There’s three different sizes- small, medium, and large– and it’s satisfyingly slim. Front-facing pages display the current month plus there’s just one yearly plan page- nothing else to weigh you down.

Teaball Teapot

As a self-proclaimed tea junkie, it’s difficult to describe just how important certain tools in the tea making process can be. If you’re dealing in loose tea, some infusers can be irritating in that they’re hard to clean, and, if they’re hard to clean, you’ll probably get fed up and not use them anymore (which is the case with several infusers in my top kitchen drawer at the moment). Now, this Teaball Teapot is easy to clean- it has a removable stainless steel infuser- but it also looks extremely nice to hold and use, and I’d say that’s almost as (if not more?) important.

    Smartphone Projector

Cool! It’s a $40 cardboard projector, and it’s just the thing for getting those movies from your smartphone onto the wall. Photos and videos being shown to the office or at a family gathering just got a whole lot easier, though, do be realistic with your expectations- it is made from cardboard, after all. It’ll be easy to move around, as it’s light, compact and portable, and fits phones up to a maximum size of 3.2 x 5.7 inches.

    Wine Twirls

If you enjoy white or rosรฉ wine, then you’re probably familiar with the ideal serving temperature. Now, unless you live somewhere quite cold most of the time, there’s the issue of keeping your glass at that ideal temperature until it’s finished. Sure, you can keep the bottle on ice, but what about the actual glass? That’s the point of these Wine Twirls: they chill your wine in the glass without dilution. They’re made of food-safe resin (BPA-free FDA-approved) and a high-tech thermal gel and rest at the bottom of the glass so as to not interfere with each sip.

    SR Ranger Stools

These stools by Scout Regalia have storage space underneath the seat, which give them a schoolhouse sort of look and feel. They’re made of white oak and powder coated steel, so if they were put in a room full of crazy kids they’d probably come out looking just fine at the end of the day. Available in 3 sizes and 2 standard colors (Forest Ranger Green or Cream), with custom colors available on request.

    Jump Charging Cable

A cable plus charger in a smaller, less bulky size? Yes, please. The Jump will charge your phone as well as packing a power boost whenever/wherever you need it. It automatically charges itself whenever it’s plugged in and packs 800mAh into a compact form that weighs less than two AA batteries. 800mAh means roughly 3 hours of additional talk-time, which will definitely save the day if you’re caught with the dreaded red dead battery sign. Stuff it in a bag or keep it in your pocket and rest assured you’ll have a charge or a boost whenever needed.

    mc squares dry-erase system

Dry erase boards are great for jotting down ideas and collaborating, but they’ve also got limitations. It’s not easy to take a big dry erase board from conference room to office, and often only a few people can use one board at the same time. The mc squares dry-erase system solves those issues. They’re small, personal dry erase boards that can be combined on the wall or moved around as ideas and projects change. Magnets on the back mount to a wall bracket for display, and you may combine as many as you’d like for a large scale presentation. See the Kickstarter video below for more info.
