New Lamp by the.

We posted some work by “the.” before–they have a smallish portfolio of really clever work and they’re worth checking out.

This particular lamp would look amazing on my bedside table. However, the -$1200 would not look good in my bank account.

Construction: Laser cut translucent white acrylic with cool-white fluorescent bulb
Dimensions: H 16″ x W 6.5″ x L 9″

Purchase Information:

Price: $1200.00

Hudson Media Cabinet

What a lovely media storage cabinet. It’s solid walnut (or cherry, if you prefer) with a stainless steel base. The shelves are large enough to accommodate the giant cable boxes that Time Warner seem to keep giving us, as well as all your dvd players, Roku’s, cable modems, etc. It’s pretty pricey, but it is one of those pieces that you will certainly have forever and ever.

Dimensions: 82w 20d 24h
Materials: Solid Walnut, Stainless Steel

Purchase Information:

Price: $2099.00

Endless Rain Record

After moving from Texas to Los Angeles, the one thing that I really miss (except for my friends and family, of course) is the torrential downpours we would get in the summer. This record from Kyouei Design creates and endless loop of rain sounds–and might just make me feel less homesick.

Matryoshka End Table by Rich Brilliant and Willing

Rich Brilliant and Willing is one of my new favorite design houses and the trio are definitely ones to watch. Their new Matryoshka table featureswood slats with each seam being overlapped by the one next to it.

The table gets its name because each of the three sizes (End, Cocktail & Coffee) – can nest inside one another, like Matryoshka Dolls.

Available in white, black, red or green.

Katie and I met the charming Richard Shed a few years ago at ICFF and I picked up his “Here Hook” and it’s one of my favorite pieces.

The Here Hook is a great design piece and at only $10 you can grab a few. Would be great in a kitchen as a dish towel holder, in the bath as a towel hook, or in an entry as a coat rack.

Moooi Clusterlamp by Joel Degermark, 2004

Lately I’ve been thinking of adding a modern pendant lamp in my kitchen with an old medallion for a nice little juxtaposition between old and new. I did it before in my old house and I think it created a nice effect. I just love this Moooi Cluster Lamp and think it would be a perfect modern light fixture. Moooi is one of my favorite design houses right now: they have such a tongue-in-cheek view of design with a perfect sense of proportion and flawless execution.
