Moooi Clusterlamp by Joel Degermark, 2004

Lately I’ve been thinking of adding a modern pendant lamp in my kitchen with an old medallion for a nice little juxtaposition between old and new. I did it before in my old house and I think it created a nice effect. I just love this Moooi Cluster Lamp and think it would be a perfect modern light fixture. Moooi is one of my favorite design houses right now: they have such a tongue-in-cheek view of design with a perfect sense of proportion and flawless execution.

Dimensions 6.3″W X 6.3″H; includes 118″ of wire. Uses 3 X 60W max E26 (medium base) and 2 X 40W max E12 (candelabra base) incandescent lamps (bulbs are not included).

Four Degrees by MicroWorks

I love this so much it hurts my feelings. It’s still currently in prototype, but frankly I’ve been bored with all the available options for shelving so I wanted to post something a little more exciting. From a Tokyo based design firm called MicroWorks–the designers discovered that books tilted at a 4 degree angle don’t accumulate dust as quickly as books which are stored flat. Whatever the reason for the tilt, I love it.

Concealed Shower Drainage

Finding the flush mount electrical outlets made me want to see in what other places one could create a seamless look. I can picture this being installed flush with the floor with a similar flooring material throughout to create a unified look. The price isn’t too cost prohibitive and it doesn’t look overly complicated to install– your plumber, or you, if you’re the DIY type, could probably do it in a few hours.

Made of a poly-resin blend.
Shower tray has matte finish that is easy to maintain.
