I love the simplicity of this built-in shelving by Ellen Seegers over at Beelden Bouwers. She uses various woods, paint colors and includes an attached lamp. Perhaps the best part of the unit is that it provides a stark contrast to the rest of the room and yet fits in perfectly to the space.

So a modern version of trophy sculptures are not a new thing in decorating, and we’ve seen a few of them over the past few years, but what I like about these is that they are so supremely modern and minimal with their white finishes and come with a relatively small price tag considering some of the other versions out there.

Judith Seng is a German designer who has worked with different studios to create interesting pieces (one of which is the super minimal design house Industreal).

Her line of Trift Tables are solid wood pieces of wood, are partially painted with a high-gloss color, revealing the grain of the wood below. Each piece is unique depending on the size of the wood.

There’s something really satisfying about watching this man start a fire using exclusively Ikea products. It does feel a little Rube Goldbergian, knowing that you could just start a fire with matches, but it’s nice to see ingenuity at work.
