The Japanese design firm &Design is known for designing very simple objects based on a theme. This years theme is “borders”, whether missing, blurred, distinctive or adaptive. The Nekko vase draws tribute to the missing roots by creating a stylized reminder of where the flower came from.

Everyone is familiar with ledge-type shelves, and as handy as they are to display objects, it’s nice to see some variety. The Modular Shelf by Wud has taken the idea to the next step by adding a contrast color and two small cubby-type boxes. A wide variety of colors and woods are available, which means you can pick the perfect combination to accent your room. The lacquer seems to be applied with the utmost care, and quality like that certainly makes the price tag that much more legitimate.

This is definitely a different way to show off some flowers. These “Ceremony Sticks” are made of Pyrex tubes and offer a unique way to have an arrangement with or without flowers. One can be placed within the other to have a mulit-layered effect.

You might have seen the flat version of this posted before, but this is the first time I’ve come accross this smaller/thinner version.

This is something different. If you’ve got a sparse corner or a section of floor to dedicate to a light, then you might consider this Kozom light by designer Alexandre Berthiaume. It adds a special sort of atmosphere- kind of a cross between a fun piece and an art-like ambience that isn’t easy to come by. Each piece is hand-made from inflated vinyl balls.
