Something about this light looks like sex incarnate. Maybe it’s the sleek stainless steel finish or maybe it’s because it reminds me of that Hussein Chalayan hat – the one that sucks the girl’s dress up into it. I love a good picture book, especially when it tells you where to buy something! 1000 Interior Details by Geraldine Rudge and her brother Ian Rudge (of 100% Design), features head-turning contemporary products from all over the world, arranged in seven chapters for anyone interested in home design, from DIY-ers to professional architects. Each chapter focuses on a specific aspect of interior design and is prefaced by an in-depth interview with an expert in that field: James Soane looks at windows and doors, Gregorio Spini discusses domestic lighting, and Jack Mama talks about technology in the home, just to name a few.

Pretty standard-looking right? Well, this NoPoPo flashlight has a unique feature that makes it a must have for emergency, camping, and survival kits – it’s powered by a special NoPoPo battery that runs on water or any liquid: beer, sake, cola, and urine…takes recycling to a whole new level. I was thinking maybe this food warmer is a chicer alternative to those tin pans and blue jelly candles, especially because this version by Seitz is porcelain and heated by tealights. I just wish it came in bigger sizes, but it’s dishwasher, microwave, and oven safe so I’ll cut my losses.

I forget how I found this thing, but the reviews, even the critical ones, say it makes a better-than-average cup of coffee with less acidity and no bitterness. And you don’t even need electricity to use it so take it camping if you like…Brokeback Mountain style, but with Juan Valdez and a happier ending.

So don’t quote me on the name of the table…Exquisit refers to it as “gm50750”, but a rose by any other name right? Or in this case, an impossibly clean-looking table whose main design features are contrast black edges and a minimalist cushion that runs the length of the bench.
