Check out Izola’s Shower Curtains- they’ve got some different versions of NYC’s subway system and a few other patterns as well. My absolute favorite is the Faile Series one on the right.

Why not put a few birds randomly about the home?  Or you could do some wallpaper-like patterns all over a room…might be interesting.

These stickers remind me of the Tattoo House that I posted a while back. It seems like this would be a smart way to get a little bit of that look without spending a whole lot.

I recently saw this in Metropolitan Home and completely fell in love with the minimal treatment and simple floorplan. The color palette is spare and elegant, which matches the architecture perfectly.

‘We kept asking, ‘How do we simplify?'” Project architect Carly Coulson explains that they did not pre-wire or place ducts in the block walls. “This was one of those things that Kevin felt was too constraining on design development to determine at the beginning of construction,” she says. “The sensitive decisions he made concerning construction sequence had a very positive impact on the design process and the final aesthetic.” Clearly, process is Streeter’s passion. Even with 20-plus years as a builder, he keeps challenging himself. “One of Michael Graves’s project architects once said, ‘Make everything look like you thought about it,'” he says, thoughtfully. “We do that for our clients, and here I could practice that for myself.”‘

This is an excellent picture of how well wall panels can create a truly unique environment.

Dry Erase boards can look a little too ‘office-y’ sometimes, and that’s why I’m a little too excited about this paint. Right now I can think of a few walls in my house that might be perfect for this…

It’s quite notable how the architect has considered and met building requirements without sacrificing any design standard, in fact, just the opposite- he’s added to rather than detracted from the building’s overall facade, making it an elegant and beautiful structure.

Every element needed to perform multiple functions for maximum return- hence the kitchen bench becomes part of the stair, and the screening required by council reflects heat and glare away from the expansive windows, neatly eliminating the need for curtains. Council requirements regarding overlooking which dictate a 75% opacity to second-storey spaces are resolved by UV stable stickers rather than expensive and elaborate screening. The tree supergraphic creates playful and ever-changing shadows across the interior spaces and is composed of images taken in the local park.

I really don’t know what I would have done if my house didn’t already have appliances when I bought it. I probably would have spent at least a few weeks going over all the pros and cons and prices. Or maybe I would have found
greenerchoices.org, where they’ve done all the research for you, including energy efficiency ratings.
