Kingstown Barstool

The Kingstown Barstools from Studio Dunn are just as sleek as they were when they first hit the market a few years ago. Similar to the popular Conventry Stool, the barstools combine traditional handmade joinery with contemporary manufacturing methods to create a seating option with incredibly graceful lines. And, as a tip of the hat to their eco-friendly credentials, it’s worth mentioning that Studio Dunn works with high-quality domestic timber from sustainable forests.

MG501 Cuba Chair

Say ‘folding chair’ and you immediately think of the cheap aluminum sort found at various community gatherings. Lucky you, just because your home is spatially challenged doesn’t mean you have to resort to those ugly things; take a look at the MG501 Cuba Chair by Morten Gottler. It’s light and flexible, and can easily fold up for storage- in a closet or hung on a wall. Natural cotton webbing straps provide support and comfort.

Woodieful Chair

Here’s a stool that doubles as a table/nightstand or a book/magazine stand. How so? Well, depending on which way you flip it, the function changes. One side has a flat, sturdy surface to park your backside, while another side has slots that allow for records, books, or magazines to stand up straight. There’s quite a few options, and there’s no doubt you’ll have some fun moving it from room to room to fit your needs.

Penelope Lounge Chair

It seems like outdoor furniture is either really nice and super expensive or pretty cheap and not great quality. The Penelope Lounge Chair seems to fit comfortably in between those two extremes, as it is made from a powder-coated steel frame with handwoven waterproof plastic as its seat and back. Hairpin legs and a wide seat add modern styling to the otherwise minimal design. It’s stackable, too.

Knockout Side Tables

Simplistic side tables always get my vote, but these cross over into the minimalistic category, which has me making imaginary placards in their honor. They’re just so serious, and would be especially great next to a silly chair or sofa (you know the term: juxtaposition). With several shaped bases in solid white marble, black marble, or green Swedish marble, you’ll have to consider a cluster (if you can afford it) of tables together for maximum impact. Or just get one, and admire its pedestal-like presence.

Harris Sofa by Montauk

Sofas are the most important of furnishings, right up there with mattresses. After all, we spend lots of time on our sofas- reading, watching shows and movies, sleeping. So, you might as well invest in something you really, truly love, right? For a recent project I looked and looked for the right sofa: it needed to be at least 8′ long, low, streamlined and soft. As in, take-a-nap-on-it soft. As is my usual luck, Montauk Sofa, which is not in my state, and only has showrooms that required me to get on a plane to see the sofa in person, had the right match: the Harris Sofa.

10×10 Shelves

Now, fair warning, this pair of shelves isn’t cheap. However, each 10×10 shelf may be installed in either orientation, which gives you a variety of arrangements suitable in many locations throughout your home. Maybe your office needs an extra ledge, or a spot to put extra books? Perhaps your bathroom needs more storage space for lotions, or all those beauty potions? There you go, two problems solved with one set of shelves. And, if you’re thinking that the 24″ length is a tad too small, you’ll be happy to hear that custom sizing (and wood species and finishes) are available.

Sacrificial Chair by Thing Industries

You might as well succumb to the bad habit of shedding clothing onto furniture. It just takes so much extra effort to put them away. Imagine that last sentence said in a whiney voice, and know that I admit to a little laziness now and then. So, go ahead and buy the Sacrificial Chair by Thing Industries why don’t you, and see the pile of barely-used and needs-to-be-cleaned clothes pile on up into a spectacular mess of colors and textures. Small desks that fold away are rare these days, despite all of the laptops and tablets floating around us at home. That’s exactly why this minimalist drop-down Wall Desk catches the eye. It’s suited for a small work surface or as a minimalist valet or dressing table. There’s a cable management compartment for hiding messy cords away, and you’ve got the option of folding up the whole thing to keep things tidy and to create more space.
