Minimalista Console Table

Here’s another super minimal console table to consider. A stainless steel frame supports a walnut, graphite-on-oak, or honed stone top. There’s not much else to get in the way visually, hence the ‘minimalista’ name tag. And, if the $449 price tag seems a tad too steep, don’t forget the Gear Console ($249).

Park Lounge Chair & Ottoman

Is it perhaps time to focus on an investment piece for your lounge area, specifically, a lounge chair? While originally intended to protect the sitter from cold drafts and trap the heat from a fire, wing chairs are now excellent choices for when you need a little seclusion in a large open space. The Park Lounge Chair is a new take on the classic wing/wing-back chair and features a molded foam body with elastic webbing to ensure comfort. And, of course, the silhouette and proportions are nothing short of elegant.

J107 chair

Are three legs better than four? Sometimes, and especially when it’s the J107 chair designed by Poul M. Volther. Panamericana Chair

This chair probably isn’t new to your eyes, as there are several versions floating all around this side of the world. Industry Of All Nations has combined the many versions into one “hybrid conclusion” and called it the Panamericana chair, named after the Panamericana road, of course. Made from teak wood, the chair can be used indoors or out with low maintenance, and they fold for easy transport or storage.

LAX Wall Mounted Table

We all know small kitchens and dining areas can be a challenge, so how about removing some table legs to make things easier? There’s a “uniquely engineered steel mounting system” that assures it’ll remain on the wall and, of course, there’s no visual clutter.

J110 chair

This dining chair catches the eye, doesn’t it? It almost appears to be a lounge chair because of its high back, but rest assured that the seat matches the standard dining height. Made from solid beech, the J110 chair is part of Hay’s 2011 relaunch of the Danish furniture classics originally made for FDB, the Danish Consumers’ Co-operative Society.

Planktable by Piet Hein Eek

Because this table is made from scrapwood, each is one-of-a-kind. There’s also a non-scrapwood teak version (pictured below), but you’d do well to consider the more interesting scrap version, as Mr. Eek is known for that sort of thing (remember the Scrapwood Wallpaper?).

If you’re not familiar with his work, check out the full collection on his website: Piet Hein Eek.

Envelope Chest

Expletive! This Envelope Chest is so very clever for its appropriation of the classic string-and-button envelope closure. It has custom leather rounds and cord (instead of paper and string) and has soft close hinges. Be sure to take a look at the other pieces in Field Day’s collection: Shingles Pantry and the Vault Dresser.

Gear Console Table

You would be hard pressed to find a console table more simple than this. Heavy duty steel with super thin legs means it almost disappears, yet it’s sturdy enough to take a few stacks of your massive art and photography books.

Redo-me

Redo-me is a system of pieces that you can reconfigure to make an endless array of furniture. Sounds a little far-fetched, but it looks pretty easy to assemble and the end result has a modern erector-set-feel that actually looks nice. You’ll have to do a little translating on the site to figure out which set combinations you need to make what you want, and for those of you that go for it (despite the overseas shipping) you get a high five. It’s also worth taking a look at Redo-me’s blog for customer pics and such.

Balcon

If you have a few knickknacks that need a special spot to call their own, consider this Balcon by Inga Sempé. Its simple installation (turn the plate to screw it into the wall) will have you thinking you could make your own. Which you could, if you are the slightest bit handy.

2nd Shift Studio

2nd Shift Studio has a couple of seating options worth checking out, and while you’re perusing their site, you’d do well to take a look at their collection of boxes made from reclaimed lumber. The stool (pictured below) has an interchangeable seat top (wood/cushion top) and is priced at $295. The bench features no hardware, instead acrylic rods secure the legs, and can be stacked to create shelving. Contact 2nd Shift Studio for more pricing and info.

Trine Bench-Valet

Update: Does 50% off sweeten the deal? This is on sale for $149 from $299 (I’m assuming until quantities last).

The whole bench/valet idea has seen a few iterations in the last few years, but this version is perhaps the most affordable. A solid ash frame and white lacquer gives a light look while the vertical post provides a spot for hats, bags, jackets or clothes. Might be perfect for an entryway perhaps?

Covet Desk

A glass top desk often appears sharp and sleek, but most lack drawers which can be a little annoying when it comes to desk miscellany. This desk has a drawer plus a storage solution built into its frame which solves that ‘where-do-I-put-my-paperclips-and-files’ question without sacrificing the clean look of a glass work surface. Available in Oak or Walnut.
