Here’s another steel wall shelf to consider, and there’s quite a few appealing colors, so, fair warning. Blush, Grey Green, Marine Blue, Putty, a deep Red, and the requisite black and white… just how will you decide? You have the choice of small (24″w) or large (40″), and there’s an added felt pad to make a softer landing spot for keys, phones, and other miscellany.

Do you need a simple, modern shelf? This mid century inspired version is made of metal, so it’ll last longer than you (probably). Installation is straightforward (see the two holes at the top back?), so just make sure your nails or screws are level and you’re good to go. Available in black, white/grey, red, or blue.

Who needs a tiny shelf to hold smaller things? Maybe your keys or your phone? How about your prized trophy (small, though it is) or your toothbrush? C’mon, you know there’s something you can store or display on the Seed Shelf. It comes in a handful of lovely colors and has a mounting mechanism that easily fastens to the wall, making installation a snap.

Treat your books, art, or tchotchkes right with the Want Shelf by Andrew Coslow’s studio. The interior is kept at a natural wood grain (with protective clear coat) while the outside is finished in a white wash. The warm wood grain guides your eye towards the items on the shelf, while the end caps seemingly give them a protective embrace- no bookends necessary.

Keep important papers and correspondence front and center with the Folded Shelves from Muuto. With a slanted divider and deep ledge, each steel shelf has plenty of room for all sorts of things (maybe even books?) while the two hooks give you some hanging space. Place one near your desk, in a hallway or kitchen, or maybe even near your bed to keep yourself organized. Available in three different sizes and four different colors.

Sure, it’s a shelf, what of it? Well, this powder-coated steel shelf has a ridge down the middle to keep photos and art propped up as well as a lip on the front. That allows you to display all sorts of things without worrying about little (or big) things falling off, which makes it suitable for anywhere you need an extra display or storage space.

Now, fair warning, this pair of shelves isn’t cheap. However, each 10×10 shelf may be installed in either orientation, which gives you a variety of arrangements suitable in many locations throughout your home. Maybe your office needs an extra ledge, or a spot to put extra books? Perhaps your bathroom needs more storage space for lotions, or all those beauty potions? There you go, two problems solved with one set of shelves. And, if you’re thinking that the 24″ length is a tad too small, you’ll be happy to hear that custom sizing (and wood species and finishes) are available.

Don’t get too attached to the way these shelves are displayed; turn them around any ol’ way to get just the right look. Both the vessel and shelf tray are removable, so you’ve got quite a few options when it comes to which way is up. Use the cup for a planter (it has a plastic insert) or as a pencil holder. Place one on a desk or hang several on the wall with the provided brackets.

This Corner Shelf by designer Kyuhyung Cho begins at the left, “a natural starting point to organise our thoughts and also our objects.” Hang the larger shelf vertically or horizontally (or place it on your desk) and use the medium and small elements to further divide and offset the space.

If you’ve ever wrestled with floating shelves, you know that finding studs or installing anchors is usually a huge pain in the ass. The Dash Wall-Mounted Shelving by Darin Montgomery (of Urbancase) promises easy mounting via a smart system that requires no stud mounting locations. Really, no studs. Each thin shelf holds up to 40 pounds, so you could confidently stack some books or set a couple of speakers on there without worrying about the whole thing tumbling down.

If you don’t need a small-ish shelf, then good for you. For the rest of us, we could probably use a small perch to set our phone and/or keys when we walk in the door, or as a diminutive ledge for the bathroom or bedside for our watches and jewelry. This one from Fort Standard is made of marble, which adds an extra ounce (or ounces, as the case may be) of luxury.

I bet you’ll have some fun with these Pivot Tables. They’re made from steel circles, and each one is folded in different ways in order to create varying geometric compositions. Four variants plus a multifunctional mount let you place the Pivot in just the right spot, and I dare say it would be a shame to order only one, as it seems like a grouping would make the most impact.
