Any piece of furniture that incorporates cork into its design has my attention, and this table by Patrick Norguet for Kristalia is no exception. A removable table top/lid means it is also a storage piece, and that’ll no doubt be useful wherever it ends up. You have a few options: white or black rotational polypropylene, with or without a genuine cork coating; white, black, or cork lid, all in either round or square.

The very title ‘mobile media table’ is enough to induce an eye roll, as it conjures all sorts of questionable design. However, as the weather gets nicer, and as we begin to enjoy the outdoors with our laptops/tablets/phones, a need for a smaller, portable table does arise. The Bink is a powdercoated indoor/outdoor table that’s sized appropriately for your device and/or your favorite drink, making it a good choice for an outdoor patio or garden area.

Each of these side tables by British designer Gavin Coyle is made from one plank of Douglas fir. Pieces are stacked together in certain sequences to highlight the patterns created by the growth rings, which, as you can see, lends an extra level of refinement to the design. The tables are then are machined on a lathe to create geometric profiles.

Tea carts and tray tables seem to belong to an older generation, but this version from designer Simon Legald has just enough modern sensibility to make it appealing at any age. The wheels move in any direction, and the posts extend above the top surface to function as handles. Maybe you could use it as an end table, bar cart, work/office caddy, or maybe even a tea or dessert cart if you have several guests over… so many possibilities.

You might not like the price tag, but you certainly will like how this side table can also be used as a step stool. No more dangerous episodes of precariously balancing on an inappropriate surface to reach a book, and no more apologies of not having that one extra seat for a surprise guest. Just when you thought you were well over any (more) Eames furniture, Herman Miller goes and tempts you with a limited edition of the Wire Base Low Table in red, blue, and yellow. These tables are in honor of the late Ray Eames (she would have been 100 this year) and are only available for a limited time, so, if you’re a fan, and the primary colors get your ‘must-have-this-immediately’ juices flowing, get a move on and add one to your cart.

This price is right for this side table, especially considering the style and materials. The warm walnut top balances out the cool copper wire base, and the size is just about perfect for a table lamp and a few odds and ends. The top is removable should you want to store something in the base, though who knows what that might look like. Might be better to leave it as is.

Table bases like tennis hoppers? Sounds iffy but it sure looks good, especially with the copper and marble combinations. You have your choice of small, medium, and large, with three base finishes and two tops, so there’s enough options to make sure it works with your room.

Well, how nice is it to see some marble topped tables not costing an absolute fortune? There’s solid walnut legs too, with brass details and a black steel frame. Both coffee and side are a pretty good alternative to some of the pricier marble tables you see in some showrooms, and the design has a very slight mid century vibe (a definite plus). This is pretty fantastic. The Tick is a leg system which clips/clamps on to a variety of materials to make a table. No screws or tools necessary (see how it functions here). You pick the board- new, old (reuse points!), plywood, plastic, whatever- and then clip on the legs for a super easy new coffee table. Other sizes are in the works, but right now just the two widths (35cm or 50cm) are available. See below for more pictures and info.

Combining a magazine rack and a side table is nothing new, but add some wheels and us bibliophiles will sit up and take notice. Wheeling a stack of books and magazines around the house to wherever our reading spot might be sounds just fine- we can keep our current collection together without resorting to an actual library cart.
