Tree Pillows

I have a knack for picking pillows that cost around $75.00. It seems to be the popular price for a comfy hand silk screened (cotton muslin case) pillow. I’m fond of bringing the outdoors in, and this pillow would do just that.

Feather and down insert. Zippered closure.

Plodes Studio

From Plodes Studio (a.k.a John Paul Plauche) comes these very fine finds.

Above you see the Barnacle storage vessels. A quote from the site: “Storage becomes articulated and textured, while at once chaotic and organized.”

Next, the Dialog Box (shown below left). It can be an end table, night stand, media stand, or pretty much whatever else you’d like it to be. Inspired by the “fluidness of syllabic alphabets” this box gives you a way to organize your stuff without compromising any of it’s overall design.

Last, but certainly not least, are the Drooplets (below right). Sold as a set of three, these glasses are handmade of strong Pyrex glass (also, the design lends itself to insulate hot or cold liquids). Rightside up or upside down, they’d be a nice addition to your glassware.

Barnacles (set of 3): $220.00
Dialog box: $1700.00
Drooplets(set of 3): $220.00

Bedside Table by Morten Brorsen

I first saw this side table on another site for a bit more (enough that I thought some of you might consider it not such a great table after all), but when looking through retromodern’s cache of tables, I happily saw it’s available for a little less.

This table is actually a sheet of solid aluminum with a real wood veneer, so it has that nice touch of metal peeking through on the edges. Wallmounted (such a nice option) or resting on the floor, it’s got some nice sleek curves that anybody would admire. Delivery will be a slight wait (10 weeks, sorry) but I think it’d be worth it. Available in oak or American walnut.

12h x 16w x 13.75″d.

Note: no longer available from original retailer.

Puma Nuala Sneakers

I’m not sure if you’re in the relentless pursuit of comfortable yet cool looking shoes like I am, but if you are, dear friends, I think our hunt is nearing it’s end. Let us pretend just for a moment that one pair of shoes could ever quench our neverending desire for more footwear, and I ask you consider Puma’s Sneaker Sock from Christy Turlington’s Nuala line. Intended for yoga and other indoor uses, I think these would be perfect for city walking too (assuming it’s not raining). I’ve seen these in person and I really regreted not buying them for about a year now.

“In soft bronze-metallic nappa leather, they’re a logical choice for both lunging and lounging indoors. The liners hide cushioning pillows under key stimulation points, and their stretch mesh sides and flexible soles let you push your โ€˜limbernessโ€™ to the limit.”

Scaffold 5-shelf Bookcase

Here’s a bookcase for you that is relatively inexpensive and kinda neat-looking. A satin-finish steel frame gives this a modern feel without adding a modern price tag. That always makes me happy. Assembly is required, so have your toolbox handy when it arrives.

Wenge-stained oak veneer over engineered wood shelves with a clear lacquer finish.

Status Wall Clock

Hmm…if I had this I would probably be able to tell that a category 5 hurricane was headed in my direction. Which it is, and I sure hope it doesn’t hurt anything or anyone too badly. So, now that I’ve said that, let’s get on with the info on this quite informative status wall clock brought to us by MoMA:

“This large quartz clock/weather station with an extra-large LED screen provides the time in am/pm or military format, day and date, inside and outside temperatures in Fahrenheit or Celsius, and barometric readings. It includes a remote control sensor for temperature. Made of ABS plastic and polypropylene. 4 AA and 2 AAA batteries are included.”

Size: 14.25l x 4.5w x 1.75″d.

Price: $200.00

Usame Table by Patricia Urquiola

This table is affordable as well as versatile. The size lends itself to function as a side table and/or magazine holder, a bedside table, and, as Unica suggests, if necessary, even a bedtray. Available in transparent (crystal) or colored polycarbonate (smoked, red, orange, olive green, light blue, and black).

Float Tea Lantern and Tea Cups

I think maybe I posted this collection a while back (and if I didn’t, it’s gotten plenty of well-deserved attention from other sites) but now I’m bringing it to your attention again since I recently ran across a retailer. Each teapot is individually handmade in the Czech Republic from fine borosilicate glass (which is superior for its high temperature resistance) and, because of the design, you are able to pour it by hand just like any ol’ bottle. I guess I don’t have to mention that it’s absolutely the most beautiful teapot/lantern that I’ve ever seen- quite different from your average tea set to say the least.

“Designed by architects Stephanie Forsythe and Todd MacAllen in Vancouver, British Columbia, the Float Tea Lantern recently won acclaim at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York City and awards from both UNESCO and London’s The Architectural Review.”

Price: $159.00

Sword Necklace/earrings

Elevating the common plastic cocktail trinket to a new level, Bittersweets NY asks you to consider the sword necklace and/or earrings. (Not at the same time, obviously. Can you say “over-accessorized?”)
