Clocks

The City Clock

Put your thinking cap on, because you’re going to need it to decipher the time of The City Clock. Yes, it’s a clock, and not a dollhouse, but you’ll have fun assembling it all the same. So, how do you figure out the time? Think of the windows as vertical rows, and, when certain windows are illuminated, use binary clock technology to know the time. If you know what that means, you can watch the video below and figure it out. If you’re still scratching your head, just watch the video and see if you’re up for making your brain work harder:

Time Since Launch Clock

Okay, get ready, because this clock is pretty damn special. It’s a single-use, long-scale launch clock. Huh? Yep, you pull the pin to start counting, up to 2,738 years. Why do you need that? Well, maybe you stopped smoking/drinking, or maybe you got married. Maybe you had an epiphany that could save the world, or perhaps you quit the worst job you’ve ever had. Or, in CW&T’s words, “elevate an otherwise arbitrary moment to super awesome status.”

Analogue Click Clock

Keep the time with a contemporary analogue clock. LEDs are the clock hands, with a dot moving around the circle face every second. The clock’s face automatically switches off when it’s quiet and lights up when you click your fingers or clap your hands. It has an alarm function with snooze, so it could be your new bedside clock (especially if you’re trying the no-phone-in-the-bedroom thing).

Magic Cube Clock

It’s a digital clock, so, what’s the big deal? It has a little magic up its metaphorical sleeve. When placed together, the two cubes display the time in hour/minute format. However, separate the two cubes and you automatically get the temperature and humidity. Back together, the time returns. There’s also a calendar, alarm, and stop watch function.

ThePresent and TODAY 24 Hour Clock

You have clocks all around you, so why do you need another one? Well, what if you could see a visual representation of the year? ThePresent is an annual analog clock; the hand completes one revolution every 365 days. Seeing the slow progression of a year might help put your hurried daily chores and duties into perspective. There’s also the TODAY: 24 Hour Clock, which moves at half the speed of a regular clock to shift your perspective of time each day.

Water Clock

Whether you love or hate this clock, we can all agree it adds a different element to tell the time. Magnets are employed to let the two balls float on the water’s surface, giving a magical sense of movement. The red ball shows the hours, the white one the minutes. Add an extra receptacle on top of the ceramic base for a more vertical display.

Clock Clock 24

Whoa, here’s a clock that’ll knock anyone’s socks off. You’ll need to watch the video to get the full effect, but here’s a quick explanation: the twenty-four small round clocks create one big digital display. All the smaller clock hands are choreographed to show either 12- or 24-hour time, with three different modes of movement. As I said before, watch the video and you’ll appreciate how this clock is almost more of an art piece than a time telling device… hence the price.

Dotty Clock

Keep time with the Dotty Clock, designed by Abi Alice. You can probably see where sticky dots had something to do with the design, as the ends of the hands are clear to spot from across the room. If you’re a fan of Charles and Ray Eames, you may even see a little Dot Pattern fabric flavor when the hands cross just so… or even planetary orbit paths… or is that just me?

11+ World Clock

This might seem like just a simple grey clock, but it has a clever rolling mechanism that allows it to display 24 different time zones. The hands work independently from the body, so you can roll the clock to whatever time zone you wish, and then roll it back to the local time. Only the side shows each time zone, leaving the face free of any extra graphics.
