Book Brush

This is pretty awesome. The book opens up and the handles fold back and turns into broom.

“This wooden book brush is cleverly shaped as the very object it is made to clean. Featuring two handles for easy operation, the brush is ideal for removing dust from vintage books without scratching them. Included in Destination: Berlin, our limited-time product collection celebrating the city’s young and dynamic design scene.”

Compact Stapler by Muji

While walking around NYC, Katie and I stumbled upon the MOMA store, which has a large section of Muji items from the well known Japanese retailer. We each bought a number of items, but the one I think we were both most excited about was the mini stapler. It’s tiny, functional and a perfect addition to my mobile office.

Wire Coatrack

Sure, there’s three of these shown, but one could stand on it’s own and be just as interesting (and you could add to it as you see fit).

“Inspired by a simple paperclip, designer Tom Dixon hand welded stainless steel to create his Wire Coatrack (2003). The sculptural form is made with generous ellipses that facilitate the casual draping and hanging of garments, hats and bags. Sold in two-foot sections, the Wire Coatrack is infinitely extendable, and can even be installed around corners. ”

Hivemindesign – Rune Bed

I certainly don’t want to overwhelm you with a price tag (be forewarned), but this might be worth the investment if you’re wishing for a bed that’s unlike anything else out there. Quite impressive.

“The Rune Bed creates a dialogue between the geometry of the form, with an implied cube that reflects its ornamentation into itself.”

ICFF 2007 at NYC

Today was opening day at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in NYC. There were tons of booths with emerging designers as well as some more established lines. We’ve created a small slideshow with some of our favorites. Probably my personal favorite as a group was the Austrian Design Platform, which showcased some of the country’s up and coming exports.
