It seems to me that we would’ve posted this before, though I can’t seem to find any record of it. And if we have, I think it’s well worth another entry. It’s such a great design and so terribly great-looking as to inspire need (as in, I need that piece of furniture). And, of course, it’s by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec for Cappellini (2004).

Jonathan Adler has been blowing up lately, evidenced here in his ubiquitous lantern design linens being sold at Big Box retailer Bed Bath and Beyond. I like these sheets and they’re not too pricey.

This is pricey but I love it! It’s referred to as a “system” because the four elements can be moved around in numerous ways to create different seating arrangements.

And for those of you wondering, yes, the backrest cushions have non-slip pads to keep them in place.

The Box Table from Brazilian architect and designer Ilse Lang. The table features a ‘box’ leg which rotates out to reveal a hidden storage area. The wood is a veneer of sustainably grown Pau Ferro.

This is a pretty smart design, and it would certainly impress your guests…Imagine pulling it out of the closet, setting it down, adjusting, and then saying, “Ta-da!”. I think I wouldn’t mind it as an everyday bed either, as it has a casual/edgy look about it.

It’s pretty amazing that bean-bag chairs have been elevated to this level of chic since they were first introduced in the 70′s. Unlike their predecessor, these futuristic bean-bags are made of stain-resistant, rip-proof nylon and filled with foam beads which result in a furniture piece that can be shaped and configured in multiple ways to meet your comfort needs. I like how it’s a simple, minimal looking piece of furniture that has versatile capabilities: the large size (5.5 x 4.5 feet) allows it to be laid flat for lounging or folded to make a chair.

I know most people are crazy for Mr. Jonathan Adler, but somehow I didn’t get hit with the adoration bat when it comes to most of Mr. Adler’s designs. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s all good stuff, it’s just that nothing has struck me as an ‘i have to have it’ type thing. And then I see this, and somehow I finally got hit in the ‘noggin, if that’s the saying. This chair is so “sweet” it’s cute, and while I appreciate it for the irony (maybe?), I’m sure loads of people love it just ’cause it’s Adler.

Note: There’s nothing wrong with things looking ostentatiously modern, but sometimes it’s difficult to pull off well.
