ISO Desktop Organizer

See all those dividers? See the bold blue? Is there any surprise I bought one of these the moment Field announced its existence? And, it has taken weeks (weeks!) for me to place in the spotlight. Apologies. As you might have guessed from the name, the ISO Organizer’s design and dimensions are based on international paper standards. Made from heavy-gauge cold rolled steel, the powder-coated divider has a thin cork underside to protect your desktop. With its hefty weight (almost 6 lbs.) and sturdy construction, it’s bound to scare any unruly piles of paper into order.

Winkel 127 Table Lamp

The Winkel 127 Table Lamp boasts quite a few features for a smaller task lamp. First off, it’s made of solid fiberglass reinforced biopolyamide, which is made from “over 60 per cent renewable material derived from castor oil.” That makes it recyclable at the end of its lifespan. However, with a very energy-efficient multi-chip LED light system, that won’t be anytime soon.

Optimal light distribution, micro gas springs (that means “good movement patterns”), glare protection, a dimmer… what more would you want in a desk lamp? Oh, it also has a built-in timer that automatically turns off the lamp after five hours, so it has a not-so-subtle way of telling you it’s time for bed. Yes, please.

King/Queen Linen Duvet Set

Hmm, a good quality linen duvet set for $129 sounds extremely unlikely, but maybe that’s because we’re used to other brands (like Matteo) having price tags twice as much*. Is price a true indicator of quality? Or should we take a chance on one heck of a deal? This is exactly the kind of product that needs customer reviews, so that those of us biting our fingernails wondering about the quality will know what to expect**.

Cold Picnic Rugs

You’ve seen Cold Picnic’s Private Parts, and now here’s a glimpse at their other larger area rugs. These three have a pale backdrop, with abstract shapes and bits of color to jazz things up. There’s the Cenotes Rug (no longer available), with a softer lime green and peach setting the tone. Painted Caves plays with purple, beige and red, while Talking Rocks (no longer available) has three floating jagged rock shapes in yellow, purple/blue and black. All are available in three sizes.

Knot Pillows by Electric Feathers

This isn’t your normal pillow, and that is exactly its charm. Instead of one semi-fluffy square (so boring!), the Knot Pillow is one long tube of cotton fluffiness sewn in silk pongee fabric, hand painted and tied up in a large knot. Fun, right? And especially handy in a pillow fight, I’d think.

Vino Cork Stopper

Why does your wine bottle need a hat? To be clear, it’s a stopper, not a hat, but you can call it what you wish. In the event you are unable to finish a whole bottle of wine in one sitting, this Vino Cork Stopper will save it for later enjoyment. And, it has a trick up its sleeve- turn it over and it may be used as a bottle holder. Two in one!

Equal Denim Hangers

Nice! These hangers are made from recycled denim fibers salvaged from Japanese textile factories. Threads- those little flecks of color- are compressed with discarded fabric from the cutting floor into usable hangers for all your clothes. So, you’ll have remnants of clothes hanging your clothes…

Cobra Wall Sconce

The Cobra Wall Sconce might just be the coolest under-the-radar sconce ever. Why? Well, look at the subtle curve of the shade, for starters, and its classic oval shape. Did you know the Swedish architect and designer Greta Grossman designed it way back in 1950? It still looks thoroughly modern, in the quiet way of most mid-century Swedish modernism. The shade may be tilted 90 degrees and rotated a full 360 degrees, allowing you to concentrate light right where you wish.

Chops Cutting Boards and Knife Rack

Knives and cutting boards: two things that work together in the kitchen yet are often pulled from different spots. Chops combines the two, with a metal knife rack that holds two cutting boards upright for storage. Take off one board (or both) and you’ll see the simple black frame of the knife rack. After prep and cleaning, reset the boards on either side, and you have what appears to be just a slender wooden knife rack. Pretty handy.

Lissoni Salt and Pepper

Should you need an option for no-fuss salt and pepper grinders, consider Piero Lissoni’s pair. Subtle and functional, they’re a smaller scale version of traditional grinders, making them the right size for tabletop use. They’re easy to hold in the palm, and also easy on the wrist thanks to the grinding mechanism at the top. Each fills from the bottom, with a coin to unlock the barrel.

Bollard Lamp

Four lamps in one, really? Yes, it’s true, the Bollard Lamp can be placed in four different ways around your home. Designer Shane Schneck planned the silicone Bollard Lamp to be used in various ways: it can drop down as a simple hanging pendant, you can angle it (hanging) as a spotlight, place it on a table or shelf on its side, or prop it up on its foot to beam light straight up. With all those options, it’ll be easy to find it a spot in your home.

Juno and Tara Bronze Hooks

How about some bronze hooks to organize any scarf/coat chaos in your entryway? Each hook was first made in ceramic, then cast by a small foundry. You get the feel of a handmade object with the heft and sturdiness of bronze. There’s the Juno Hooks, which each have a slightly different shape but all are roughly the same size, the Tara Oval Hooks, which sizes vary more noticeably, and the Kali Hooks (not pictured) which have a curvier outline.
