Icon Stool by Matthias Demacker

“There is no mistaking the minimalist look of Matthias Demacker’s Icon stool! The piece is made from two sheets of aluminum, bent and welded into two dramatic, triangular shapes. The segments meet at their most precarious points, but the stool remains perfectly balanced! A fantastic example of formal reductionism!

Stackable and compact, the Icon is available in red, black, white or aluminum with a removable, black cushion.”

Tivoli Audio iYiYi

In most cases, I’d rather have 1 item that performs two functions instead of 2 that each only perform one. But for some reason, listening to iTunes on my computer doesn’t really work for me while I’m using my computer. It slows down my computer a little and the speakers leave a little to be desired. I’ve been wanting a external way to listen to my iTunes library and I think this may just be it.

“The iYiYi system connects and charges all dockable iPods. Its precise digital tuner includes five FM and five AM station preset buttons, a ‘seek’ function, and built-in AM and FM antennas. The backlit display provides information on station tuning, the time, and the 20-minute sleep timer indicator. It all adds up to the ultimate home audio system for anyone looking for iPod and radio control in one unit. Available in black and white. Dimensions: 7.36″H x 11.88″ W x 8.66″ D. Weight: 6.33 lbs”

touche du bois / cubes

Domestic, a French company is teaming up with a bunch of cool designers (Jeremy Scott, Marcel Wanders, Kaws, Ich&Kar, etc.) to make some really cool wall appliquès. I like these floating cubes a lot.

“Ich&Kar, a tandem of graphic designers who cast an outlandish but qualified gaze on a range of subjects as varied as fashion, gastronomy, music, design and arcchitecture from luxury to consumer goods. Creators of messages and imaginative images turned into visual identity, their aim is to inspire sense with lightness and humour.”

Kara Lounge Chair

This lounge chair doesn’t have a pedigree, but the legs are certainly reminiscent of Paul Kjaerholm’s Springing Chair. If you don’t mind owning a referential piece, then this chair may not be a bad choice.

Traby Coffee Table

I was at my friend’s great loft last weekend, and right in front of his >$18,000 sofa is this little blocky table. Certain that it too came with a large price tag, I was quite surprised to find out it was a $100 solid* wood table from Ikea. The photo doesn’t really do it justice. This little guy can hold his own in sophisticated settings. Trust me on this one.

The lower tray is completely removable.

edit: it’s actually not solid wood. But it certainly feels like it.
