It seems people have tired of the typical ostentatiously modern designs and are favoring more witty designs that are influenced by styles of the past. I’m getting a little sick of my furniture looking like a spaceship anyway.

These legs look delicate yet at the same time very strong. It’s the most architectural bed I’ve seen in a long time.

British designer Sam Johnson has an ingenius way of lighting your booksshelves in a very integrated way.

“Light Reading was designed to nestle in amongst your books and remain invisible until illuminated. Made from a material called ‘Secret sign’ (by Perspex), the light is bent into the shape of a book. Inside the book a low energy lamp is mounted providing a safe and low temperature light source. When switched off it blends in with the other books with its matt black spine. Once illuminated the light reveals its title, which is laser engraved on the inside.

Includes cable, switch and plug.”

A chair that can fit in a suitcase? Not a bad idea at all…

This is quite stunning.

“Creepers is a complex pattern of fine, light catching leaves made of laser sintered nylon. Clipping an array of Creeper stems on floor-to-ceiling cables creates floating clouds of light that divide interior spaces. Intertwined leaves sprout from the stem in a seemingly random disorder: collectively these surfaces cover a pre-ordained reflector area. Each leaf follows the same structural rules but with considerable scope for individual variance. Thicknesses taper from the main stem to reflectors thin enough to be semi-translucent. Yes, it’s a chair. Kind of hard to absorb at first, but then you get used to it. I think it’s beautiful, and most likely worth every penny (if you’ve got that many pennies to spare).

It’s often hard to find bedding for the modern-ish home. There’s just so much out there, and honestly, there’s also a whole lot of patterns that just don’t make me very happy. But this does. Simple stripes paired with bright(ish) colors give punch without going overboard on pattern.
