It’s a box. It doesn’t have a charging station, it won’t organize your emails, it’s just a side table with storage to display books and such. Well, $199 for a minimal steel chair isn’t so bad, especially when you consider the price of a visual equivalent like the Emeco 20-06 Stacking Chair. Now, this one isn’t made from recycled aluminum, and it doesn’t stack, and sure, that’s a little disappointing, but you will have $376 left in your pocket, which means you can buy a second chair and some friends groceries.

Let’s talk sectional sofas. They’re usually expensive, and you get whacked over the head with various interior suspension info that you probably don’t care too much about, even though it’s important, especially as you’ll be sitting on it for every day for the rest of your life.

We’ll not revisit any bullet points about frames, springs, or foam, we’ll just look at this small sectional sofa from Blu Dot and admire its simplicity and configuration possibilities. Also, for someone that’s continually worried about dogs/kids/dirty-shoes-on-furniture, when you look at how the components come apart, it looks like a breeze to reupholster should it be needed in the future. Another anniversary stool? Sure, let’s have it. Alvar Aalto’s three legged Stool 60 turns 80 this year, and we’ve already seen a few other versions that piqued our collective interest. Nao Tamura’s version is decorated with the growth rings of a tree, 80 rings to be exact, and the size of the rings are never the same. Unfortunately, it appears that no US retailer carries it. Sad for those of us here in the US, not so sad for those of you on the UK side of the world.

An earlier iteration of this stool by Justin Gologorsky had a foam covering and was more than twice the current price, so I’d say this updated version is worth a look or two. The Tilt Stool has a gentle curve to its base, allowing you to keep your core muscles engaged by rocking back and forth. Turn it on its side and it becomes a stable seat or side table. It’s made of plastic, so don’t limit yourself to indoors- think patio or poolside.

So, if you peruse the decor magazines, you might have seen the ads for the Design by Conran collection at JC Penny. Have you had a chance to take a look? Yea/nay? Of what I think are the winners, first up is the Elder Chair, and despite its shape reminding me a little of Chairy or some other kid’s show chair, I like the classic proportions and generous size. It looks like the quintessential curl-up-and-read-a-book chair. And, hey, you’ve got to respect the lovely cobalt blue hue, even if it’s a bit too bold for your living area.
