I’ve had the Card Speaker on my wish list for a while now but I think I’ve found a replacement with the release of this new speaker. The Nixon TPS is a portable speaker system made for media players and notebook computers. The battery charges through USB and is good for 6 hours of jams. Whiteboards need not be white. IdeaPaint is a clear paint-on coating that can be applied to any smooth surface for dry erase functionality. The basic kit at $225 covers 50 square feet and includes roller, stir stick, can opener, and wet paint sign. It looks especially good on woodgrain, and would work great in the office or kids’ room.

The Torch T1 helmet is an urban styled bicycle helmet with integrated lights. LEDs are projected onto the wide lenses which disperses the light across the entire surface, creating increased visibility and brighter light from wider viewing angles. Take a Joby Gorillapod and mate it with a spring clamp and you’ll have the Nasty Clamp, a handy clamp-anywhere, infinitely adjustable tripod. The flexible arm can also be extended by adding additional lengths available in the accessories store. They’re admittedly not pretty to look at it, but can be absolute life-savers while on a shoot. Yeah I know, canning jars are extremely trendy right now, even more than the actual canning process. I’m drinking out of one in a coffee shop at this exact moment. But beyond fashion, they are simple and robust in their design, perfect for drinking glasses. However, the open top proves to be unwieldy when on-the-go. Cue the Cuppow, a plastic drinking lid designed to convert any mason jar into a spill-proof cup. Swedish furniture producers Swedese pays homage to the classic Alvar Aalto stacking stools in function and spirit, but with a new spin (get it?) on aesthetics. Many prototypes and experiments resulted in laminated veneer legs bending in two directions, giving the stationary stool a spiraling motion. Spin Stools are made to order with an 8-10 week lead time.

Sometimes a bit of elegance and simplicity in package design goes a long way. In this case, five pencils are housed in a minimalist cardstock case, and presented beautifully upon opening. Each set includes a variety of five vintage European pencils dating from the early 1940s to the late 1960s. Would make a great gift for any office & art supplies geek.

The Stanley Adventure Multi Use Bottle is your answer for a stainless steel travel bottle that has a bit more design consideration and function. It features a twist off body that converts to a cup, volume markings, as well as a regular quick drinking spout. Also, I imagine twisting it apart makes it that much easier to clean compared to the traditional steel/aluminum bottles with narrow necks, which require a cleansing tablet to thoroughly sanitize. Holds 32 oz and is dishwasher safe.

The Measure Tea Towel is a hand screen-printed tea towel designed by Dani Guralnick, featuring the most common measuring equivalents and conversions used in cooking. Of course, if you feel it’s too pretty to wipe up spilled wine with, it can also be hung up as art.
