Crescendo Wall-mounted Tackboard

No matter how hard we all try to minimize bits and pieces of paper and cards and invites, they show up unbidden in our bags and on our countertops. What to do? Don’t buy a normal (boring) cork board to keep yourself organized, buy this tackboard with stripes! That’s right, it’s a tackboard, made of thin strips of industrial mill-made paper, all of which are stacked tightly together for the express purpose of holding your miscellany all in one place.

On a Roll Tape Dispenser

A tape dispenser is rarely described as anything other than just plain (snore) useful, but black + blum have certainly put their brains to use in creating one that is decidedly better than above average- and that translates into pretty damn good. Yep, you read it right, that’s a ‘damn’ in front of a ‘good’ and I’m talking about a tape dispenser.

Gravity removes the need for a separate spindle and the cast iron is heavy enough to use with one hand. So, it’s minimal, durable, and functional? Check, check, and check. And high five to you, black + blum, for creating an excellent alternative to the cheap and unattractive plastic versions found on too many desktops. If I shared an office with anyone other than my dog, I’d be hinting pretty hard that I’d want this for the next gift exchange.

Handy Gold Caddy

If you’re going to have anything on your desk or dining table called a ‘caddy’ you might as well make it gold, or gold-plated, at least. A black pine handle shows off the oh-so-shiny gold, and it could hold your mail, pens and notepads just as easily as flatware and napkins. Less is usually more, so don’t go overboard with other gold accessories. You don’t want to blind coworkers or family members with your show of wealth, now, do you?

Move them around as you see fit. And, it appears that there’s free international shipping at the moment, so consider that when you’re soaking in the price tag.

El Casco Chrome Tape Dispenser

If you’re not particularly detail-oriented when it comes to your desktop/workspace aesthetic, then you won’t care at all about a tape dispenser. However, if well-designed desk accessories makes your heart all aflutter, then you’ll want to know all about the El Casco Chrome Tape Dispenser. It’s all metal, so it’s got a heft that will keep it in place when in use. Oh, and don’t worry about someone appropriating it for their own use at their desk- it has an individual serial number so you can prove your ownership (preferably by memorizing the number and spouting it off as soon as you suspect thievery).

Le Guest Book

Ah, yes, hospitality, remember that? When people were nice and appropriate and proper? No? Me neither. Maybe we can bring back a smidgeon of the old times by backing Le Guest Book, a memory-keeper, if you will, for you and your guests. Keep it out on the coffee table so your favorite people can leave you notes and drawings, or maybe they’ll answer the multiple choice questions if they’re not especially handy with a pen. Think of it as a housewarming gift for a friend’s new place, or just get one (or two, or three) for your own home to encourage guests to tell you that you’re an awesome amateur chef- or just plain wonderful in general.

Collage Sticky Notes Duo

And you thought sticky notes could not be improved. Just take a look at the geometric print on these sets and tell me they’re not terrific. I want all of them, but I will restrain myself and just get one set. Maybe. They’d be handy for notes or reminders that need to stand out amongst all the other papers on our desktops, wouldn’t they?

Walnut Keyboard Tray

What’s so great about a keyboard tray? Well, nothing if you’re a strict minimalist and don’t have a bunch of little things rattling around on your desk. However, if you’re like the rest of us, you could use a small spot to stash a few pens, paperclips, extra batteries and other little miscellany that has no home. A slim profile keeps the ergonomics of Apple’s keyboard and the natural black walnut will look good with almost anything.

Magnote

Perhaps you have a favorite notebook, but I bet you a dollar bill that it doesn’t have magnets as a main component. Huh? Yep, magnets. The Magnote, currently a Kickstarter project, has neodymium magnets embedded in its spine, allowing you to easily carry several at once while keeping your ideas or projects separate. It lays completely flat when opened, so you can take advantage of the full page surface. Carry just as many as you need in an orderly stack and separate them whenever needed. At the size of an iPad, each notebook stacks easily alongside the others on a shelf, and you can choose between a blank, gridded, ruled, or a daily or monthly minimal planner.

Berra Card Stand

The name might refer to a landslide on a Swiss mountain, but you can appreciate gravity on a smaller and safer scale with this card stand that keeps your papers organized. Wooden counterweights loosely set on a sloped base will hold your papers or cards upright where you may enjoy them- or keep them handy for reference- and the Japanese oak will look fine on any desktop surface.

Magnet Tacks, Set of 3

Sometimes the simplest innovations have the biggest impact. Imagine the possibilities for storing your favorite (magnetic) things with these magnet tacks. Don’t worry, they’re strong enough for keys, pens, etc. You’d double the function of any bulletin board, for sure, or maybe scatter a few around on a regular wall to float odd-but-necessary things en masse.

Airvase Message Card

What’s better than a handwritten card? A handwritten vase. Huh? Well, rather, a handwritten message on an Airvase. Designed by Torafu Architects, each Airvase arrives as a flat, brightly colored paper disk that you shape into a bowl or vase. This gift card version has the option of adding your own note so that the recipient may sculpt your message into a 3D form, perhaps to be enjoyed long after the initial message arrived.

601Street 4×4 Envelope Notebook

Don’t underestimate the effect a handwritten thank you note can have, especially as they’re rare to give and receive nowadays. As someone who still occasionally writes notes to friends and family, folding a paper into an envelope seems like an efficient method of traditional correspondence, and that’s exactly why this envelope notebook caught my eye. 16 sheets in total with four possible envelope folds. There’s also a 6×4 Envelope Notebook, $13.95 (24 sheets with six possible envelope folds).
