Remember the Wax Crayons from DWR back in 2008? Well, when they stopped carrying them, several of you wrote in with alarmed enquiries, thinking you had missed the boat. You had, of course, missed the boat, and no amount of substitues (Block Crayons, Crystal Crayons, Crayon Rings) could make you forget the original. But now, these many years later, you may mop up those tears, for your misspent childhood is not lost forever. It seems as if a little internet sleuthing has turned up the same set, or as close to the same set as possible.

Let’s hope that your victories well outnumber any regrets or expectations, but nevertheless, you can now keep track with these 100% recycled notebooks. Keep in mind these notebooks are of a smaller size, so they’d be easy to carry around in a pocket or bag- better to keep your tally accurate, I suppose. Could be a nice small gift for a graduate, depending on your point of view (as in, don’t just get them the ‘regrets’ notebook, that’s just mean).

Update: Remember this guy? MoMA has it in stock again, with a slight modification to its branding (now it says ‘MoMA Triangle Notebook’).
I’m not quite sure how a triangular shape notebook would benefit those of us that like notebooks, other than for novelty’s sake, but maybe that’s reason enough. (For example, I thought I’d skip posting this, but I kept coming back to it.) This notebook belongs to MoMA’s Destination: Istanbul, which means it’s available for a limited time only.
Features 144 ruled pages and a durable black fabric cover.
Made in Turkey
Size: 9l x 9w x .5″h.

Here’s a clever way to take notes on your design projects. These notepads feature plenty of room for initial project notes in a very familiar layout. This would be a great gift for any designer, so you might want to bookmark it for future reference. $1.00 from each pad sold also goes to NAMI to help fight the stigma of mental illness.

The cover shows the contents; the exterior design is the same on the interior pages (except the pages are offwhite). Choose between the Lined or Grid cover, or choose both if you are in need of an extra notebook. FYI: This notebook fits the Notefolio perfectly.

If you think the standard paper or binder clip cannot be improved, think again. Yamsaki Design Works has made a simple revision in shape that improves the function of a paperclip. The triangle clips lay flat, thus keeping a low profile when holding papers together, and leave the paper unwarped when slipped off. Small changes, sure, but small details sometimes make a big difference.

Sometimes a bit of elegance and simplicity in package design goes a long way. In this case, five pencils are housed in a minimalist cardstock case, and presented beautifully upon opening. Each set includes a variety of five vintage European pencils dating from the early 1940s to the late 1960s. Would make a great gift for any office & art supplies geek.

If you like your lists nice and tidy, take a look at this acrylic check list stamp from MUJI. For $3.75, you’ll have a much neater frame than just eyeballing it. Repeat the stamp for a longer list, or just do one for a short ‘to-do’ memo each day. (Ink pad is not included.)

Combine a letter opener with a ruler? Sure, why not? Made from brass-plated alloy, one side has centimeter metrics with the slogan, ‘Follow the rules.’ The other side has inch metrics with the slogan, ‘Break the rules.’ Actually, it looks like that’s opposite from the image shown, so be prepared for a flip flop of slogans. Regardless, it’s always nice to see one tool with multiple functions.

Sure, we can hope to organize everything perfectly in neat stacks in drawers and other appropriate places, but sometimes it’s easier to just chuck it into a box, or even better, a toolbox. Store your scissors, tape, rulers, or whatever else you like to keep on hand in this open toolbox and move it from desk to worktable and back again with little fuss. Lots of colors to choose from too.
