Nimbo Slap-on Watch

The Nimbo Slap-on watch is a new, thickset silicon watch band which just slaps on the wrist with no fuss of buckles or snaps. It’s available in a seven bright colors (including black and white) and comes in both analog and digital versions. Because of it’s generous size, it looks best on a bare wrist so it’s doesn’t compete with sleeves or other jewelry. It definitely has a very casual feel to it, but I could definitely see it being a wardrobe staple for designer/architect types.

Mine is black digital, and I love how it has a great visual impact to it. Thanks to UMA for sending us one to check out in person.

TK:ARO Glass Water Bottle

That’s right, a glass water bottle that is reusable, recyclable, transportable and dishwasher safe. But what about the glass, hmm? Afraid it’ll break? As long as you keep it from “radical falls” it should be perfectly fine. (On the Tkaro website there’s also an engraved option if you want it customized; price is just slightly higher at $37.95.)

Equivalent to 2 cups or 500mL.
Do not place in freezer or microwave. Not suitable for hot beverages.

Zero Waste Bag

Add another reusable tote to your must-have list: this lightweight bag is made from a single sheet of #2 plastic and, just like the Ty Shower Curtain, you can write/draw on it as you wish. So, make notes, keep a travel log, or just keep it plain white (as I plan to do, at least at first). It’s machine washable and can be recycled when it has worn out.

Littlefly Rings

If you ever wished you could wear your favorite book, your wish has come true. Jeremy May makes jewelry from books, and yes, the results are a literary success. By laminating sheets together and sculpting to achieve the desired shape, he’s created one-of-a-kind pieces that show hints of the texts and images held within. The final piece is cleverly returned to the cavity in the book for presentation or safekeeping. There’s really quite a variety of shapes and sizes, and his site is very worth perusing should you be in the market for appreciation or purchase.

Prices range from 185 to 1050, as each piece is handmade and unique.

Accordion Bag

No more unpacking? Can it be true? This bag’s accordion strap allows for open shelf storage when hung, meaning you can do without hangers and hotel drawers. When folded, it looks like a normal-ish bag (in reflective material) that’s easy enough to carry around. It’s worth mentioning that the hook looks a little worrisome; if there’s no storage option for it, it might catch on something.

Available in Green, Blue, or Yellow.

Kiosk

Do Kiosk owners Alisa Grifo and Marco Romeny have one of the best jobs ever? They travel the world finding the most interesting and unique products and bring them back to sell in their New York store. Each trip they take results in a curated exhibition at the store, together with on-going products from previous exhibitions. Emphasis is placed on goods that are traditionally used and cultural-specific. High-priced “over-designed” products don’t make the cut. Kiosk is a must visit if you’re in New York, but you can always browse their online shop. There really is no store quite like it.

TravelTeq Trash bags

This travel bag is mighty impressive. Handmade in Italy, it has 8 inside compartments (4 open, 3 zipped) and one outside compartment/pocket (for ticket or mobile phone) to make sure all your important things stay put. It’s got an undercover sort of look to it, especially in the darker ‘Panther’ color. Also, there’s free shipping to the US and EU, if that helps take the edge off the price.

Accommodates up to a 15 inch laptop.
Florentine Vachetta leather with water resistant nylon lining.
40w x 30h x 8d cm

Olympus PEN E-PL1

I was quite excited when the first one of these was released, though it was too expensive, had no viewfinder, and no flash. Wasn’t alone on these opinions and Olympus has thankfully addressed all of these issues. While my bank account still can’t afford it, at least it’s much closer to reality.

What’s to like about it? Micro four thirds, smaller body, interchangable lens. HD video. Way too many features too list right here, check out ’em out at Amazon.

Bergkamp Double Tote

Two are better than one… at least in this case. There’s a ton of totes available these days, but this is the first I’ve seen doubled up so that you can organize your items. The canvas ‘bridge’ that conects the two totes can be used to hold jackets or yoga mats or whatever other larger items you have. I’d say it might be an easy DIY project as well, if you’ve got two of the same sized totes and an aversion to buying more. If you’d rather just plonk down the cash for this one, it’s available in natural, black, and orange.

Pill and Cobra Yoga Mats

Yoga. Stretching…breathing…relaxing… and PILLS! And cobras! Aghh! Just the sort of thing to make your yoga practice… um, strange. If you want that. (I can see the cobra working, because there’s a yoga position called the cobra, but not sure how I feel about pills on a bathroom floor, you know?)

Pill Yoga Mat, $95.00
Cobra Yoga Mat, $95.00

I still like the first Plank mats: Wood Plank (with muffin!) and Shag.
