Happy wallet by Stefan Sagmeister

Just in case you need reminding, this wallet has the phrase ‘MONEY DOES NOT MAKE ME HAPPY’ screen printed on its various folds. In 2010 Droog started purchasing leftovers from liquidation sales and turning them over to designers for creative re-interpretation. Entitled ’saved by Droog’, the project’s editions are limited by the lot quantity.

Photojojo Classic Leather Camera Satchel

Photojojo offers relief to the world of drab black plastic camera bags with their Classic Leather Camera Satchel. An all leather exterior houses a padded interior fitted for a camera and lenses, as well as a laptop sleeve for 13” laptops. Two front pockets as well as a zippered rear pocket keep the small things organized while you snap away. I don’t even have a nice enough camera that would warrant owning such a handsome bag but it looks suitable for doing double duty for carrying about town as well.

Infinity MPG Pullover and T-Shirt

I’m an all season bicyclist but I’m certainly looking forward to sunny rides soon, and seeing this new graphic from Threadless put a smile on my face. The original Infinity MPG t-shirt is green with white graphics, but a new updated version is available with bright reflective ink, turning bright white in the headlights of cars. Check out this video to see it in action. I wouldn’t trust it as the only means of night time visibility, but it certainly adds a cool style statement.

Leather Portfolio

At 14″x10″, this leather portfolio is too big to be a wallet and way too small to be a briefcase (hence the ‘portfolio’), but I think several of your smaller belongings would feel right at home in snazzy lime leather or a more refined white, black or gold.

Knapsack by Fatboy

Judging by the look on the model’s face, you’ll be absolutely delighted with this knapsack-slash-picnic-blanket. You can stash all your stuff in the knapsack and then unfold/untie at the park or beach and you’ve got a picnic blanket all set. (Being mid February with dreary weather all around, this sounds like a great idea, but mostly because the words ‘picnic’ and ‘beach’ sound so incredibly nice. Picnic! Beach! Sunshine…)

Japanese Gardening Boots

Imagine if your wellies could fold up for storage, how much space would that save in your hall closet? A normal knee-high pair of boots takes up, what, at least 1-1.5 cubic feet of space? Flexible rubber enables these boots to be rolled up for storage, meaning more glorious room for other hall closet miscellany.

Speakr Box by Buka Projects

This portable wooden speaker requires no batteries or power source and works with pretty much any gadget you own (mp3 players, iPods, phones, laptops, etc.). Nice to see a simple wooden speaker option for the desktop or for outdoor activities (don’t take that to mean it’s waterproof though).

NoteSlate

No, it’s not an iPad wannabe, nor is it a new eReader. It’s got no apps or games or books stored on its memory card. This simple tablet device takes the place of pen and paper, that’s all. It has a simple real-paper-look interface that allows you to make notes or sketches for future reference, then save or delete them. With a long life battery (180h) and a $99 price point, it’s awfully tempting to see how well it would work. Unfortunately, you’ll have to wait until June of this year to actually put your hands on one, but it could just be worth it.

See NoteSlate’s website for specifications and details.

Bike Portage Strap

Now, this is a very specific item that perhaps only avid bikers will appreciate, but I think it’s smart and simple, and improves the biking experience enough to be mentioned. This strap provides a slight suspension between the top bar and seat tube of a bike, so that when you carry your bike there’s a nice padded place for your shoulder. If you’ve ever carried a bike up a steep incline or a few flights of stairs, you’re familiar with the discomfort and know that this would make those small journeys a little bit easier. See the (happy) biker below for an example of the strap in action.

Hand-made and hand-finished leather.

LINK Furoshiki

Furoshiki, which you might be familiar with, are a type of traditional Japanese wrapping cloths that can be used for all sorts of things. This particular print seems particularly eye catching with its graphic red/white design, and while you could use it for wrapping a gift (or a wall hanging, or as a scarf, etc.) it seems like it would be a great gift all on its own.

Also, I found this site called Furoshiki.com which seem to specialize in the subject… the Animals White ($34) is a nice one, also Palace ($42).

Analarm

Analogue alert anyone? If you tend towards the non-digital, you’ll maybe like this square faced alarm-clock-inspired watch. Instead of chirping or beeping, the alarm creates a vibration on the wrist like a mobile phone.

Budtrap

Add another headphone organizer to your list of considerations, because this one is super small and seems to do the job nicely. It slides onto your earphone jack and provides a place to clip in the cord after wrapping the earbuds around your device. If you’d like to see more, visit Budtrap’s site for more details.

There’s also a slight discount if you buy in bundles or packs… fyi.
