Porcelain Memory Stick

“…a 1 GB memory stick in a handmade porcelain case featuring USB 2.0. The Porcelain Memory turns the traditional notion of a memory stick on its head and offers a hand crafted, beautifully glazed piece of technology in a non-tech body, and the presentation really shines when the operating LED starts glowing through the china.”

Tengu

This little desk mate, which lip syncs to music, is the next big thing in Japan and possibly your desk.

You can see it in action here.

“cute little USB creatures (think Tamagochi all over again) that you
plug into one of the many USB hubs you have sitting around, and when
Tengu picks up music, it starts to sing (or sync) along… Tengu has 7
different facial (hmpf) expressions that it uses to lip sync, that are
displayed in red LEDs over his white face”

The North Face Base Camp Duffel – Large

The North Face is one of very few logos that I can look out without getting an allergic reaction (anybody read Pattern Recognition by William Gibson?). This bag actually looks pretty sleek, which seems unlikely considering it’s a duffel coated with polyurethane, but there you go. It looks decent.

“Main compartment features a D-shaped zippered opening for high visibility of entire interior, plus an internal mesh pocket for organization; Shoulder straps with an alpine cut for comfortable, easy hauling as a backpack; Constructed of waterproof, tear-proof and abrasion-resistant 1000-denier polyester; coated with PVC on the inside and polyurethane on the outside.”

9 Volt Light by Richard Lawson

This is quite clever, and even though you might have seen it before, you might consider buying a few up for holiday gifts or stocking stuffers (if you’re already thinking about that sort of thing).

“Think of it as an exact replica of a 9-Volt battery made out of high powered LED’s. All you do is plug it onto the before-mentioned 9-Volt battery and voila, you have a modern day version of a candle.”

Exposed Bag

Cheeky shopping bag.
“Reveal your inner deviance with an X-ray look into your bag – featuring your usual cellphone, ipod and keys, alongside your not-so-usual Jack Daniels, brass knuckles and snub-nose revolver. Made of durable non-woven plastic fiber and available in a shoulder bag or grocery tote, it makes for an intriguing accessory for everyday use… unless, of course, you’re planning on any airline travel!”

Puma Bento Box

I saw this in a store recently, and after a few moments of wondering what it was, I finally picked it up and opened it- much to my surprise, it’s actually a cute little container to hold lunches or snacks. Now, I’m not sure if ‘cute’ is a qualifier for your food containers, but it looks to be well designed and compact enough to fit comfortably within any bag. If anyone knows differently, please let us know.

“Designed to accomodate the working lifestyle, the collection re-addresses and re-organizes the needs and priorities of the working urbanite to provide greater relevance to their lifestyles.”

Colin’s Traveling Bag

Nice look and could go anywhere with you…

“The shape of the bag allows the carrier to store not just the laptop, and all things work related – but also everything you need for a new outfit. All that without being overly clunky or disproportionate or, you know, just plain weird looking… To top it all of, the bag has a subtle and gorgeous green stitching and the interior sports a turquoise lining (not unlike the bespoke suits from Savile Row…) that adds a little dash of flash that is only visible when the bag is opened, to an otherwise beautiful and understated bag.”

Size: 23.5″ x 14″ x 4,5″ (59 x 36 x 11 cm)

DIY hand sanitizer

When you’re traveling, anti-bacterial hand washes are great to have because more often than not, you’re eating on the run. My good friend D. over at Less is More Balanced has come up with a recipe to make your own hand sanitizer which not only smells amazing and really works, but also is a genius way to keep all those little bottles out of the landfills.

Make a solution of 60% of alcohol and 40% distilled water and then add a dash of your favorite essential oil. Peppermint smells amazing, but I’m sure any oil would work just as well. Since it is liquid, you will want to put it in an atomizer or spray bottle (I like the one’s sold by Muji) because that will make application easier.

Bull Denim Woven Cotton Cities Bag

I’m sort of addicted to cotton totes. I like the Helvetica city list, and more importantly, you can be one less person contributing to the large number of bags (somewhere between 500 billion and a trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide each year according to National Geographic) going into landfills.

100% Cotton Canvas construction
Reinforced tacks at double handle
Print of major cities on both sides
Approximately 16-1/2โ€ย x 15-1/2โ€ย (41.9cm x 39.37cm)

By the way, today is the first of a series devoted to green topics, thanks to Blog Action Day.

Hideo Trolley/Luggage

All three of these would be completely suitable to be seen with while jet-setting. I especially like the white with the mirror finish, though I don’t know how it would look after a few trips…all three feature functional innovations such as ABS shell, for lightweight supreme protection, and silent moving soft wheels.
