Paper Write-On Watch

You can hear it calling out for your scribbles, doodles, and fancy handwriting, can’t you? It feels like paper, but this watch has a polyethylene (plastic) band for durability. Use pencil for erasable notes or ink for more permanent designs, and don’t forget that this could be an excellent gift idea for a friend or family member. As the retailer recommends, it might also be a clever save-the-date or party invite. Sold as a set of three, and is available in three styles: ruled, graph, or plain white.

Une Bobine

A super-bendable charging cable that doubles as a tripod? Uh, yes, please. The Une Bobine is a two-foot-long cable that can charge your device (available in iPhone or micro USB versions) and act as stand or tripod- feel free to flex it or loop it around to suit your needs. No need to worry about your phone’s battery if it’s plugged in, so it would be perfect for longer video chats or time-lapse photos.

The MULTI Tool/Wallet

Just look at all the tools that this thin, minimal wallet has integrated into its surface: bottle opener, nested wrench, ruler, bit holder, box opener, and even a smartphone/tablet stand. If you don’t mind the metal aspect for the wallet function, you could have all these tools sandwiching your cash and cards, at the ready for whenever you might need them. Sure, it’s a little clunky, but it is metal, after all. See video below for more.

Bowoo Case by Reonda

Hey musicians, guess what we’ve never featured before? A guitar case, and for good reason. Up until now, there’s been no reason to consider how one case might be better than the other. However, this Bowoo Case by Reonda looks to have several advantages. It’s well designed and built to last, with the same protection of a hard case at half the weight. Stop replacing your cheap cases every so often and invest in this one- it’ll last. Take a look at the video below to see more.

Cordito Cord Wrap

Here’s a very simple solution to keep your cords in order: a leather wrap with slots for your plugs and wrapped cords. I’d be tempted to make my own (I’ve several leather remnants from abandoned zip pouch projects), but if you’re not the crafty I-can-cut-leather sort, you can purchase directly from thisisground’s etsy shop.

Bike All Bike Shelf

While this bike shelf might seem a little wonky to begin with, give it a second look and consider if it might just work for your bike’s indoor parking space. While the bike itself isn’t completely off the ground, the seat is ‘parked’ on the spot below the shelf with two hooks for bags, accessories, and/or helmets. The surface above gives you a nice resting spot for phone, keys, etc.

Hello My Name Is Luggage Tag

Sure, it’s fine to look all cool when traveling, but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with a tiny bit of humor to distinguish your bags from others on the baggage carousel. Inspired by the ubiquitous “Hello My Name Is” nametag design, this tag has an I.D. window on its reverse.

Sun and Cloud Self-Generating Digital Camera

A self-generating digital camera? That means it’s capable of self-generated power by its own solar panel or charged manually with a hand crank. Don’t worry though, you can manually charge it via USB if you’re lazy and there’s no sun. It can take still shots and video with sounds and has many modern functions with a retro look. Pretty intriguing, to say the least, and some might even say necessary for documenting whatever the future might bring.

If you spend any time in the wilderness, you’d do well to add one of these to your emergency kit. It’s a water purifying straw that removes “99.9999% of waterborne bacteria and 99.9% of parasites without any use of chemicals.” That’ll be a lifesaver if you’re ever lost or- doomsday scenario- if some disaster strikes and makes the regular water supply unsafe to drink. LSTN Headphones

If guitars, drums, violins, and many other instruments are made of wood, why aren’t most headphones? Wood offers more resonance than plastic or metal, so it makes sense to incorporate them into a listening device so near and dear to our ears. And, with every pair you purchase, LSTN sends the proceeds to charity partners for the deaf, so that one child gets medical attention and a custom fit hearing aid on your behalf. A win/win situation, I believe.

Automatic

Just when you thought your smartphone had enough wizardry, it goes and upgrades your car’s capabilities. The Automatic Link uses your smartphone to ‘talk’ to your car’s onboard computer, learning your driving style and scoring you on gas efficiency. What else? It can detect crashes (and immediately report it to 911 and text your loved ones), help you understand what the ‘check engine’ light means, and will always remember where you parked. That, in itself, might be worth the cost alone for some of us.

Bluelounge Messenger Bag

Do you recall the Bluelounge Backpack we featured a while ago? This messenger bag is similar in its simple exterior style and multi-pocketed interior, yet suits the over-the-shoulder mode of carrying around your goods. A quick release buckle makes the on/off process easy and (of course) it’s also got an ergonomic fit that’s pretty important if your commute is longer than, say, 5 minutes. Just like the backpack, the fabric is made of 100% recycled PET plastic bottles.
