Coffee Tables

Caliper Coffee Table

Here’s a coffee table that puts an end to clutter: two hidden drawers reveal storage at each end, making a secret spot to stash away tv remotes, games, and reading materials. Not a bad price either. (There’s some assembly required, but I’m guessing it’s just attaching the legs.)

Saarinen Tables

“I wanted to clear up the slum of legs.” So said Eero Saarinen, designer of the well known pedestal (aka Tulip) collection, which includes a dining, coffee and side table.
Winner of the 1969 Museum of Modern Art Award, Saarinen’s collection is one of many iconic designs from the mid century.

#146 Rotating Squares table

While I organize my thoughts from 100% Design and Tent London, I’ll leave you to admire Tom Cecil’s Rotating Squares table. It’s more than impressive in person and I took a short video (on my phone, so don’t have high expectations) to show it in action. Orders are taken on commission and start at ยฃ2000.00.

From designer Andrew Tye is this wonderful plywood coffee table. The wood sections stack and intersect (without the use of any other hardware) to create the base of the table, and is finished with a hardened glass top.

Large: 43.31″W x 31.5” D x 10.43″H

NW1 Table

Hand thrown out of 62 kilo wet clay, these tables designed by Nicholai Wiig Hansen are a sight to behold. With colors inspired from Nordic painters, they are hand painted (painstakingly, it seems) at a Danish potter workshop. The video below shows the process.

High Table 16.9″ x 17.7″ Dia, $3,000.00
Low Table 11.8″ x 26.6″ Dia, $3,860.00

Sean Dix Forte Coffee Table

Not a bad price for a coffee table, seeing as it’s comfortably under the $500 mark. The angled legs makes for an interesting detail, yet it’s robust and sturdy looking, as it should be since the legs are cut from solid American walnut (or oak). A veneered hardwood top finishes it off with a nice ‘organic geometry’.

American Walnut ($379) or American Oak ($349).
Also available in a round-topped version for $499.

35.5 x 35.5 x 17 (W x D x H”)

Purchase Information:

Price: $349.00
Available from: nood

Marble Coffee Table (match off)

At first glance, these two pictures might appear to be of the same table taken in different lighting, but perhaps the more discerning can pick out a few tiny details that sets one apart from the other. There’s not much, mind you, but there is a difference, most noticeably in the price.

Can you guess which one is $900 and which is $300?

Answer and info on both below.

Clarity Color Glass Tables

This looks like something straight out of Verner Panton’s portfolio, doesn’t it? Pink, orange, and yellow glass is combined to form these colorful ‘color-wheel’ tables. Now, if only they made this in a lucite-ish version at, let’s say, a fifth of the cost, then maybe it’d fit nicer into all of our budgets.

Dot Coffee and Side Table

These round Dot Tables are quite the buy at $150 and $400 respectively. It’s a lot of that clean-lined look for a rather reasonable price tag (in my opinion).
