Tablo Tables

These tables have that soft minimal look that’s often hard to find. The rounded wooden legs contrast nicely to the sharp edged plastic top, and you’ll also be happy to hear the legs are easy to assemble for transport or storage. Available in large or small, black or white.

Echo Coffee and Side Table

You might be a little tired of hearing me talk about the new collection from Debra Folz, but you’re just going to have to deal with it, because these tables are pretty spectacular. The glass portion is made from four different layers, each having one color/layer of the pattern. As the layers overlap, deeper hues appear with a three dimensional effect. Now, the price is a little higher than you might like, but keep in mind those four layers of glass and the wonderful pattern they’ll project onto your floor.

Rouge Coffee Table

It’s just what you need, isn’t it, a pink*, perforated metal table? With all the recent talk of the Met’s PUNK: Chaos to Couture, there’s nothing wrong with straying a little from your regular furnishings and updating a coffee table, especially if that table packs a punch. And what packs a punch like a (let’s say it together) pink, perforated metal table?

Atlas Coffee Table vs. Free Range

And here we have another face-off, and this time it’s in the realm of wood and marble coffee tables. Yes, they’re not exactly the same, but there are the similarities in materials and dimensions, so why not see if you can guess which one has the $1800 price tag and which one has the $600 tag?

Pebble Coffee Table

Well, seeing as this concrete table weighs almost 100 pounds, you’ll not want to move it around much, but it’s a relief to see that it has an affordable price tag of $254. The rounded shape will soften up all those sharp edges of your other furniture, inside or out. And, chances are that this table will require less upkeep than other pieces- though don’t go tempting fate by pouring red wine or other colorful drinks over it. (Also available: Pebble Side Table, $126.)

RAD Tables, Benches, Stools

I still have a deep affection for the Howard Stool, and surprise, surprise, it blinded me to the other perforated steel tables and benches that RAD has to offer. Coffee tables, benches, entry tables, smaller stools and side tables- they have a pretty good array of sizes to suit your needs. A few versions are shown below, and keep in mind there are several different colors to choose from.

Herringbone Coffee Table

Wood (coffee table) + chevron parquet + simple iron base = no brainer. Parquetry seems to have been making a comeback with a few interiors featuring the old school look to its best advantage (a few bookmarked images on tumblr). All good news, of course, but if you can’t actually install those lovely patterned floors in your own space, you can certainly apply the technique to a coffee table top. This particular table is made of sustainable shesham wood and is left unfinished, so do be careful with your colorful beverages.

Tessello Table Legs

Noah Lambert has added a great leg option to the marketplace: the Tessello. Sold as a set of 3 for $90 (or a set of 4 for $120) it’s a pretty affordable option, especially if you already have a table that just needs a makeover in the leg department. Media center, coffee table, nightstand, you name it, the legs are a no-brainer for an easy update, as you’d only need a drill/screwdriver and screws or bolts to attach them to your choice of table top. Each leg is cut from a sheet of .1875″ thick steel and bent with a custom jig to insure uniformity.

Sfelt Table

Here’s a relatively simple idea executed well: a removable felt wrap protects the table’s surface from feet, drinks, laptops, etc. The handier among us might replicate this idea on our own coffee tables, but don’t discount the table under the smart felt idea just yet. It’s solid walnut with nicely curved TIG-welded steel legs, so it’ll stand the test of time while easily living up to its name.

Pedrera coffee table

Let’s have a quick little test on your design knowledge. Is the well known Casa Milà or ‘La Pedrera’ building designed by Le Corbusier or Antoni Gaudi? Hint: The building is located in Barcelona (image of Casa Milà here, just in case you want to take a peek before finalizing your answer). This coffee table, like the Pedrera lamps (aka PD2, PD4), was designed by Barba Corsini in the 1950s for the interior apartments of the La Pedrera building. Answer on the building’s architect below.

Free Range Tables

Well, how nice is it to see some marble topped tables not costing an absolute fortune? There’s solid walnut legs too, with brass details and a black steel frame. Both coffee and side are a pretty good alternative to some of the pricier marble tables you see in some showrooms, and the design has a very slight mid century vibe (a definite plus). From Blu Dot, if you hadn’t guessed already.
